East Fremantle bounced back from its third loss of the season in Round 4 to post a vital win over East Perth and begin to get back on track in season 2025. Swan Districts has had back-to-back tight victories – against Peel Thunder and West Perth – to sit third overall with a 3-1 record, however their percentage compared to the two unbeaten sides is quite substantial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both sides are relatively settled heading into the clash, with East Fremantle able to recall goalkicker Chloe Reilly<\/a> as well as welcome debutant Cienna Leslie<\/strong>. They replace Charlotte McGregor<\/a> and Grace Freeman<\/a>, The Swans are without Emma Humphries<\/a> but have been able to name Naomi Baker<\/a> as her inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharks forward Alicia Blizard<\/a> is one who can cause all sorts of headaches for the opposition defence, while up the other end, Maya Louvel-Finn<\/a> has produced some consistent footy out of the back half and can both lock down and provide run. For the Swans, Carys D’Addario<\/a> is among the most accomplished ball-winners in the competition, while Sienna Gerardi<\/a> is an explosive goalsneak and Ava Stewart<\/a> can provide a target up forward or be thrown behind the ball such is her versatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
East Fremantle look the goods with their experience and despite their worse win-loss record, have had a pretty tough draw to-date facing top four sides. Expect them to show up for this one, and though the Swans can definitely win, the homeground advantage might be the tipping factor.<\/p>\n

Claremont has won four matches on the bounce to start the 2025 WAFLW season as the reigning premiers eye off another flag tilt. With perhaps one eye towards next week’s potential grand final preview with Subiaco, the Tigers first have to account for Perth with the newcomers yet to win a game but showing plenty of spirit, The Bombers play a competitive brand and are coming off a bye after a spirited nine-point defeat to the Royals in Round 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claremont has made two changes, with athletic tall Hannah Seaborn<\/a> making her debut coming off a huge Under 16s campaign. She comes into the side with Megan Green<\/a>, replacing top-age forward Ella Gilbey<\/a>, and Laura Cinanni<\/a> who is first emergency. Being a young side, Perth is no stranger to rolling out substantial changes and in this one, seven players have switched places. Among the ins are State Academy member Mia Carlshausen<\/a> ex-Subiaco talent Taya Strickland<\/a> and valuable player Natalie House<\/a> who had some nice form earlier in the season. The likes of Tessa Kongras<\/a> and Caitlin Bassett<\/a> are out of the side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW DRAFT TALENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without Gilbey in the side, Juliet Kelly<\/a> will be the one to watch from Claremont, though talented Under 16s prospect Seaborn is one to note down for the future given her rare combination of size and athleticism. Carlshausen’s return will add some excitement to the forward half for the Demons, while Addison Opalinski<\/a> has played some impressive games this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Given the two side’s relative development phases they are in, it looms as a massive challenge for newcomers Perth. Claremont should come away with the comfortable win, so it will be a great way for the Demons to see how they stack up against a benchmark side with plenty of finals experience.<\/p>\n
