BIG WINNERS West Perth and Claremont have shared equal top billing in the WAFL Women’s Team of the Week for Round 6. The Falcons and Tigers both have five representatives in the 24-player squad, ahead of both Swan Districts and East Fremantle, while the remaining four sides have two players apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both the top sides fill out the leadership roles as well, with West Perth’s Sara Riou<\/a> not only making her Team of the Week debut, but going straight to captain after four goals from 22 disposals and six inside 50s. She will lead the hypothetical team with Claremont back-to-back Dhara Kerr Medallist Jayme Harken<\/a> amassing 29 disposals, four marks, 10 tackles, five inside 50s and kicking a goal in the Tigers’ win over Perth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Riou had plenty of friends in the team, with fellow multiple goal forward Erin O’Brien<\/a> kicking three majors, while wing Taylor Ferguson<\/a> and top-age gun Mia Russo<\/a> were in the Team of the Week once again. Another debutant to the team is young ruck Cara Dziegielewski<\/a> who really shone against Peel with her work around the stoppages and up the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Harken is no stranger to sharing the Team of the Week with a host of talented Tigers and once again all her teammates were on the field as well. Mackenzie Webb<\/a> and debutant Hannah Seaborn<\/a> bookend the side, the latter of whom kicked four goals in a dream first match. Sasha Goranova<\/a> (two goals) earned her place at half-forward while defender-midfielder Juliet Kelly<\/a> slotted into half-back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Swan Districts took the chocolates against East Fremantle, but both sides managed a trio of representatives in the squad. Swans forward Taylah Edwards<\/a> kicked four majors, while Sharks counterpart Siena Jezierski-Brown<\/a> finished with three to be in opposite forward pockets. Midfielders Jaime Henry<\/a> and Carys D’Addario<\/a> were the other Swan Districts representatives, while East Fremantle defender Maya Louvel-Finn<\/a> and key forward Sarah Wielstra<\/a> (two goals) the other Sharks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a tight low-scoring tussle, South Fremantle and East Perth each had a pair of players. The Bulldogs were represented by Tahleah Mulder<\/a> and Bailey Hunt<\/a>, while the Royals had Layla Firns<\/a> and Brianna Cleggett<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rounding out the 24-strong squad were Peel Thunder duo Chloe Wrigley<\/a> – who had a league-high 35 touches – and skipper Ebony Dowson<\/a>, as well as Perth pair Mia Carlshausen<\/a> and Isabella Shannon<\/a>.
