TITLE contenders Queensland has announced a stacked Under 18 Girls squad for the upcoming National Championships, with several star talents set to return from injury. The 30-player squad features a 50\/50 split between the Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions Academies across four age groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Headlining the squad are potential top five picks in Ava Usher<\/a>, Dekota Baron<\/a> and Georja Davies<\/a>, with the former two currently still out due to injuries sustained last season. Dynamic forward Alannah Welsh<\/a> makes four National Academy members in the squad, while Annabelle Foat<\/a> – best on for the All-Stars against the Academy – and Mikayla Nurse<\/a> are among the other Suns representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The squad is unfortunately minus midfielder Bronte Parker<\/a> who went down with injury against the Eastern Ranges in the Coates Talent League Girls competition, though both Nurse and Sunny Lappin<\/a> – daughter of Matthew and therefore eligible to Carlton and St Kilda – showed inside abilities in her absence. Aleah Stringer<\/a> and midfielder Sienna Burnham<\/a> also significantly stepped up to show further depth within the Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From the Lions Academy, top-age talents ruck Monique Corrigan<\/a> and defender Jemma Foley<\/a> are the pick of the 2007 draft crop, while over-age hopefuls Kaiya Hides<\/a> and Isabella McDonough<\/a> are genuine chances from the 2006 group. Harlee McIlwain<\/a> will play alongside Baron up forward and be the successor in next year’s side, while Mia Geere<\/a> and Molly Ferguson<\/a> are a couple of midfielders with terrific upside for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Queensland has even named two 2009-born prospects in Ameleia Murray<\/a> and Edie Fraser<\/a> who have outstanding footy IQ for their age and will likely play in defence and attack respectively. Queensland kicks off its campaign against Western Australia on June 22 at 1:30pm in Victoria as part of a massive triple-header, before heading home to take on Vic Country and the Allies a month apart.
