A COUPLE of young guns lead our Round 9 WAFL Women’s Team of the Week with top two sides Claremont and Subiaco leading all-comers from a team perspective with four representatives. Fellow winners East Fremantle and West Perth have three, as does South Fremantle and Perth, while Swan Districts and East Perth have a couple of players in the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leading the side this week is top-age draft prospect Carys D’Addario<\/a> who notched up 29 disposals, four tackles and nine inside 50s during her side’s loss to Claremont. Her deputy also was on the losing side o the ledger for Round 9, with that being Perth co-captain Holly Britton<\/a> who recorded a league-high 31 touches, as well as three marks and five tackles against Subiaco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking of Subiaco, the Lions had four players in our Round 9 side, headlined once again by top-age bookends Olivia Wolmarans<\/a> and Olivia Crane<\/a>. Wolmarans kicked a couple of goals as did Krstel Petrevski<\/a> who slotted into half-forward, while Lisa Steane<\/a> made the side for another week. Along with Britton, Perth had a couple more representatives in defender Addison Opalinski<\/a> and ruck Molly Warne<\/a> who both make their Team of the Week debuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Claremont notched up four representatives as well, with three of those coming in the front half of the ground. Sharing the goals around, Megan Green<\/a>, Taylah Orzel<\/a> and Ella Gilbey<\/a> all finished with two majors apiece and found plenty of the ball, while midfielder Matilda Sergeant<\/a> was strong on-ball yet again. They beat a Swan Districts side where D’Addario and partner in crime Jaime Henry<\/a> (interchange) both impressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n West Perth had a big win over East Perth and recorded three players in our Team of the Week as Emily Bennett<\/a> made it for another round. Bottom-ager Lexi Strachan<\/a> was best on ground through the midfield kicking a couple of goals, while Madison Dodd<\/a> made it onto the bench following her consistent effort through midfield. For the Royals, Layla Firns<\/a> was nudged to half-back given the strength of the midfield, while Jess Verbrugge<\/a> had the ball on a string once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the nail-biting match of the weekend, East Fremantle and South Fremantle produced five players for the Round 9 Team of the Week. Sharks defensive duo Madison Evans<\/a> and Maya Louvel-Finn<\/a> hold down the fort in the back five after another fantastic effort, while ex-Bulldog Noa McNaughton<\/a> is on the bench alongside new Bulldog – though also old AFLW Bulldog – Bailey Hunt<\/a>.
