EAST Fremantle had to fight for a win against Perth, but came away with the four points and the equal most representatives in our Round 10 WAFL Women’s Team of the Week. It was an entertaining clash with Perth also earning four players from the game, while ladder leaders Subiaco and fellow unbeaten side Claremont had four as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the other sides, West Perth was another competitive losing side picking up three representatives, the same as the side that pipped them in a dour struggle, South Fremantle. Swan Districts and Peel Thunder were well beaten and had just one representative apiece, though for the Swans, that representative was defender Isabella Edgley<\/a> who performed so strongly with 24 touches in defence, she earned our vice-captaincy for the round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The captaincy for Round 10 went to Perth’s Isabella Shannon<\/a>, with the Demons’ co-captain racking up a round-high 32 disposals, as well as finishing with five marks, two tackles and six inside 50s in a big performance during the defeat to the Sharks. Fellow Demons Mia Carlshausen<\/a> (half-back), Fina Dethlefsen<\/a> (half-forward) and winger Jasmine Single<\/a> (interchange) also made the final 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From the Sharks, for yet another week top-age defender Maya Louvel-Finn<\/a> earned a spot in defence, named this time beside tall teammate Tiani Teakle<\/a>. Up the other end, East Fremantle held down both key position posts thanks to Sarah Wielstra<\/a> and Anjelique Raison<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Subiaco’s winning run continued in Round 10 and so did another quartet of players in our Team of the Week. Returning to the side, Hayley Corlett<\/a> made a positive return running hard across the ground, while ruck Tess Lyons<\/a> was huge through the ruck. Rounding out the bench were a couple of Lions in Layla Quinn-Schofield<\/a> and Paige Sheppard<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Claremont’s quartet of inclusions featured two-goal forwards Ella Gilbey<\/a> and Rachel Ortlepp<\/a> in respective pockets, with consistent midfielder Matilda Sergeant<\/a> named on-ball. Taylah Orzel<\/a> also earned a spot on the bench, while their opposition winger in Charlie Fletcher<\/a> was a shining light in Peel Thunder’s heavy defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The tight defensive struggle between South Fremantle and West Perth yielded a trio of players from both sides. Midfielders Bailey Hunt<\/a> and Tahleah Mulder<\/a> were important in the win, while Hunter Cronin<\/a> was rock solid in the back 50.
