THE EAGLES have taken flight in our Round 11 SANFL Women’s Team of the Week with six representatives making up one quarter of the side. Woodville-West Torrens leads all-comers with second placed South Adelaide (four), ahead of the team they beat in West Adelaide, and fellow winners, North Adelaide and Norwood (all three).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Captaining the side after another enormous performance through the ruck is South Adelaide’s Soriah Moon<\/a> who had 22 disposals, seven tackles, 44 hitouts and 10 clearances in the win over West Adelaide. Her deputy for the hypothetical team is Glenelg ball-winner Jess Bates<\/a> (33 disposals, 11 tackles and eight clearances) after another incredible outing in midfield despite a loss to North Adelaide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Moon finds herself in the side along with veteran midfielder Caitlin Couch<\/a> (16 disposals, 16 tackles and six clearances), hard-running wing Lauren Clifton<\/a> and bottom-age utility Taya Maxwell<\/a> who were part of an even team performance. Glenelg on the other hand had just one more representative with skipper Samantha Franson<\/a> (24 disposals, four marks, six tackles, five clearances and five inside 50s) providing plenty of run and carry between the arcs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Woodville-West Torrens dominated once more with half a dozen players including four on the field and three inside 50. Usual suspect Christina Leuzzi<\/a> (18 disposals, 10 clearances and a goal) was named at half-forward for the round, with Alice Tentye<\/a> (21 disposals, six tackles, five inside 50s and a goal) and Klaudia O’Neill<\/a> (two goals) both standing tall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Young gun midfield duo Maia Freemantle<\/a> (21 disposals, eight tackles and seven clearances) and Lucy Moore<\/a> (22 disposals, nine tackles and three clearances) were both prominent around the ball, while ruck Leah Cutting<\/a> (18 disposals, three marks, six tackles, 41 hitouts, four clearances and five inside 50s) was phenomenal but was only bettered for the starting ruck role by a rare bigger outing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In defence, North Adelaide hold down both key position posts with Jamie Parish<\/a> and Polly Turner<\/a> making it for another week. The Roosters backs combined for 43 disposals, seven marks and 15 rebound 50s in the low-scoring win over Glenelg. Djimila Totham<\/a> was the other North Adelaide player in the side named on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Norwood also managed three representatives for Round 10 with bottom-ager Charlee Brooksby<\/a> (15 disposals, three marks and six inside 50s) named at half-back, while strong marking targets Jade Halfpenny<\/a> and Kiana Lee<\/a> take up two of the remaining three forwardline spots. West Adelaide’s Ruby Ballard<\/a> (19 disposals, 11 tackles and six clearances) took the other place at half-forward, while her teammate Emily Mableson<\/a> was busy off half-back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The third West Adelaide representative was Hannah Button<\/a> who broke the SANFLW tackle record with 24, alongside 13 disposals and three clearances. Sturt duo Isobel Kuiper<\/a> (26 disposals, five tackles and 13 clearances) and Gypsy Schirmer<\/a> (16 disposals, two marks and seven rebound 50s), were also in the side.
