MURRAY Bushrangers had a terrific Coates Talent League Girls Round 10 win over the Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels and boasted a league-high four representatives in our Team of the Week. Double the amount of the next highest side, nine of the 12 teams had two players in the squad, with Calder Cannons and Geelong Falcons just the one apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Captaining the side is the Bushrangers’ utility Ellie Hall<\/a> who started in the middle but played on all three lines throughout the match en route to amassing 41 disposals, six marks, 11 tackles, five clearances, four inside 50s, two rebound 50s and two goals. She was one of four Bushies in the squad along with fellow hybrid midfielders who spent time in defence, Rain Dodd<\/a> and Sophia Green<\/a>, while despite some inaccuracy with 2.5, Majella Day<\/a> slotted into her usual forward pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Three of the four games boasted a quartet of players with a pair of representatives for each club. In the thrilling contest between Oakleigh Chargers and Dandenong Stingrays, dominant full-forward Bailee Martin<\/a> (16 disposals, five marks, four tackles, four inside 50s and five goals) remains in that position, while gun midfielder Chloe Bown<\/a>‘s impressive top-age campaign kept rolling on with 28 touches, five marks, five tackles, six clearances and 11 inside 50s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Stingrays, Lillian Snow<\/a> (20 disposals, three marks, 11 tackles and seven clearances) and Mizuki Brothwell<\/a> (19 disposals, five marks, five tackles, three clearances and six rebound 50s) were also included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Gippsland’s hard-fought win over Western Jets, National Academy member Ella Stoddart<\/a> (19 disposals, two marks and six rebound 50s) and double bottom-ager Brooke Kelly<\/a> (11 disposals, four marks and two goals) were in the starting squad, while the Jets had Tayla Olivieri<\/a> (29 disposals, six tackles, 11 clearances, five inside 50s and five rebound 50s) and Kiara Boyd<\/a> (11 disposals, four marks, three tackles and two goals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The other game that produced four players for the team was Sandringham Dragons’ victory over Northern Knights. Young forward\/midfielder Maya Duane<\/a> booted 3.3 from 21 disposals, eight marks, five tackles, six clearances and five inside 50s, while the other Dragon was captain Sienna Sharp<\/a> who managed 16 disposals, six marks, four tackles, five clearances, three inside 50s and a goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Knights, Scarlett Johnson<\/a> (25 disposals, 10 marks, three tackles, four clearances, nine inside 50s and a goal) was huge in her wing\/defensive role, while Isobella Hishongwa-Gibb<\/a> (13 disposals, seven marks, five tackles, 33 hitouts and three inside 50s) provided a presence around the ground through the ruck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Northern Territory’s first win in the Thunder’s final game, Marika Carlton<\/a> booted two goals from 18 disposals and eight inside 50s, while double bottom-ager Peggy Rock<\/a> racked up 31 touches through midfield and attack. They defeated Calder Cannons whose sole representative was the naturally gifted Shauna McElligott<\/a> (13 disposals, three marks, nine tackles, three clearances and two goals), while Geelong’s Stella Huxtable<\/a> (32 disposals, 13 tackles, six clearances, four inside 50s and a goal) was the other single representative for her team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Completing the 24-strong squad were a couple of Rebels and Ranges, with Jovie Skewes-Clinton<\/a> (27 disposals, seven marks, six tackles, seven rebound 50s and a goal) and Milly Shortal<\/a> (18 disposals, 14 tackles, eight clearances, five inside 50s and three rebound 50s) from GWV.
