CENTRAL District’s finals hopes are well and truly alive, ending West Adelaide’s same dream in the process, while Glenelg has built momentum into 2026 by denying reigning grand finalists Norwood a spot in the post-season, and South Adelaide ground out a six-point SANFLW victory to close out Round 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While unable to make finals and still most likely to earn the wooden spoon, coach Talia Radan<\/em><\/strong> will no doubt be pleased with the recent form that resulted in wins over finals hopefuls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the Redlegs winning the clearance battle 35-19 and the inside 50s count 36-26, it was Glenelg that made the most of its forward thrusts, something the Bays have struggled to do in 2025. While Jessica Bates<\/a> racked up almost half of her side’s clearances with seven, she and Asha Dufour<\/a> worked tirelessly around the stoppages and getting into space to combine for 50 disposals, 13 marks, 15 tackles, 11 clearances and eight inside 50s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The pair alongside Marie Martino<\/a> and Ella Quinn<\/a> were in the Bays’ best, however it was hard to deny that four-goal hero Kaitey Whittaker<\/a> stood out. She kicked 4.2 from 11 disposals to gain the bragging rights over sister Grace Whittaker<\/a> (one goal for Norwood). Madelyn Zacher<\/a> and Lauren Edwards<\/a> worked hard from the back half as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Norwood, it was debutant Lani Cocks<\/a> who stole the show, amassing 28 disposals, two marks, five tackles, two clearances, five inside 50s, three rebound 50s and a goal, while the experience of Jade Halfpenny<\/a> (28 disposals, seven tackles, nine clearances and three inside 50s) was evident. Kiana Lee<\/a> was the Redlegs’ sole multiple goalkicker with two, while Sarah Branford<\/a> was her busy self.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Norwood finishes off the year up at The Ponderosa where it can deny Central District a shot at finals, while Glenelg guns for three consecutive victories when it takes on West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium in the last match of the regular season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NORWOOD 1.2 | 3.2 | 3.3 | 4.6 (30) GOALS: RMC BEST: In what became a virtual elimination final, Central District overcame West Adelaide in a six-point victory at X Convenience Oval. The Bulldogs raced out of the blocks with the first three goals of the game, and though they were kept goalless in two of the four quarters and had four less scoring shots, accuracy proved to be the difference in the 5.3 (33) to 3.9 (27) triumph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dakota Williams<\/a> has had a really consistent year on-ball providing a similar level of defensive pressure to retired skipper Shelby Smith, laying another 10 tackles and having nine clearances from 18 touches and four rebound 50s. She teamed up well with fellow youngster Ella Sergi<\/a> (12 disposals, seven tackles and four clearances), while Madison Lane<\/a> was prominent with 15 disposals, four marks, nine tackles, six clearances and five rebound 50s. Katelyn Rosenzweig<\/a> (two goals) and Lauren Breguet<\/a> had their moments as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Bloods, the one-two punch on-ball from Hannah Button<\/a> and Zoe Venning<\/a> was a highlight in a tough to swallow loss. The pair combined for 52 disposals, seven marks, 20 tackles and 15 clearances to get on top in that area. Under 16s talent Sarah Deed<\/a> got her chance up the ground again and still kicked a goal, while Tess Huxtable<\/a> and skipper Madison Russell<\/a> were their consistent selves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Central District must win against Norwood next week to play finals, but also needs Sturt to lose, while West Adelaide finishes off the year with a dead rubber match against Glenelg at home in a bid to finish on a high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CENTRAL DISTRICT 3.0 | 3.3 | 5.3 | 5.3 (33) GOALS: RMC BEST: South Adelaide exacted revenge on North Adelaide in a low-scoring scrap at Prospect Oval to finish off the weekend. Both sides were missing key players due to the national championships, and while not going to plan for either side, it was South who took home the four points in the 2.3 (15) to 1.3 (9) triumph. Just one goal was kicked in the first three quarters before the teams traded majors in the second half of the final stanza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lauren Clifton<\/a> and Melissa Anderson<\/a> have been impressive even more so since their inside ball-winners went out, getting amongst it around the stoppages with 43 disposals, seven marks, 13 clearances, 17 tackles and 10 inside 50s between them. Still creating run, they worked well with defender-turned-midfielder Esther Schirmer<\/a> who had seven clearances of her own from 18 touches and six tackles, while ruck Soriah Moon<\/a> was phenomenal once more. Defensive duo Jaslynne Smith<\/a> and Tiffany King<\/a> shut down their respective opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For North Adelaide, the defenders also did well there as Ella Metcalfe<\/a> (17 disposals, six marks and four rebound 50s) worked in tandem with Jamie Parish<\/a> (19 disposals, seven tackles and five rebound 50s).
