SUBIACO got back to business in Round 13 and earned a league-high five players in our WAFL Women’s Team of the Week, one more than East Fremantle. Fellow winners Claremont and South Fremantle picked up three, as did losers Swan Districts and Peel Thunder, while West Perth (two) and East Perth (one) rounded out the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Captaining the side for the week is Lions onballer Paige Sheppard<\/a> who produced a massive game of 32 disposals, five marks, five tackles and four inside 50s, while also slotting a goal. Her deputy for the week was Swan Districts midfielder Jaime Henry<\/a> who finished with 25 disposals, 17 tackles, four marks and five inside 50s during the defeat to Claremont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alongside Sheppard are four other Lions who earned spots for Round 13 including forwards Chloe Shearing<\/a> (three goals) and Leila Rowe<\/a> (two), ruck Tess Lyons<\/a> and fellow ball-winner Lisa Steane<\/a> who was named on the bench. They knocked off Peel Thunder who had three representatives with midfield duo Chloe Wrigley<\/a> and Ebony Bilcich<\/a>, while defender Ebony Dowson<\/a> joined Wrigley as a 30-plus disposal winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Henry had two friends alongside her, with wing\/forward Kayley King<\/a> booting three of her side’s four majors, while Indiana West<\/a> also impressed and was named on the bench. Their opponents Claremont had a trio of players in the team who were defender Mackenzie Webb<\/a>, three-goal forward Hannah Seaborn<\/a> and star midfielder Jayme Harken<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n East Fremantle’s defence held up against West Perth with a couple of enormous efforts. Madison Evans<\/a> clunked 13 marks from 25 disposals, while Torrens Revell<\/a> was also named back there. Forward Sarah Wielstra<\/a> continued her fine form to boot two more goals, while 50-gamer Amber Kinnane<\/a> found her place on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n South Fremantle had a crushing win over East Perth in an even team performance. Midfielder Tahleah Mulder<\/a> found plenty of the ball, while hard-running left-footer Jasmine Bazeley<\/a> was named on a wing, and marking forward Shannyn Pomersbach<\/a> earned a spot inside 50 after two goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rounding out the squad were West Perth duo Emily Bennett<\/a> and Taylor Ferguson<\/a> at half-back and on the wing respectively, while East Perth’s Sabella Banks<\/a> slotted into a back pocket.
