EASTERN Ranges’ big win over Tasmania Devils earned the second placed side a league-high four representatives in our Coates Talent League Girls Team of the Week for a combined Rounds 11 and 12. All six matches were taken into consideration with five other sides – including Sandringham Dragons, Dandenong Stingrays and Tasmania Devils who all played twice – managing a trio of players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ranges provided a host of top-enders with multi-positional roles over the weekend and two of their defender-midfielders in Jordyn Allen<\/a> and Brylee Anderson<\/a> slot into the defensive back six. Ruck\/forward Josie Bamford<\/a> kicked a couple of goals and had 39 hitouts, named in the starting ruck role. The other Ranges player was midfielder\/forward Emily Rankin<\/a> who slotted onto the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oakleigh Chargers’ Cleo Barbakas<\/a> was our Player of the Week after a couple of goals to go with 22 touches, 13 hitouts, eight inside 50s and five tackles in the victory over Western Jets. Her forward partner in crime Scarlett Bown<\/a> also kicked 2.3 in the match and was dangerous inside 50, while midfielder Teagan Murtic<\/a> had the ball on a string with 31 touches for the Chargers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sandringham Dragons picked up a pair of wins across Round 11 and 12 defeating Tasmania Devils and Calder Cannons, with bottom-age gun Chloe Williams<\/a> starring off a wing, while 2009-born draft prospects Maya Duane<\/a> and Claudia Kogler<\/a> were huge through the middle and both hit the scoreboard which earned them spots at half-forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dandenong Stingrays split their results across the two weekend with best-on from game one Charlotte Gilmore<\/a> named on a wing before being called up to Vic Country for the weekend just gone. In her place, Indi Sherritt<\/a> had a day out with 31 touches through the middle, while another double bottom-age prospect in Lily Brittain<\/a> found her place on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite going down in both their games, the Devils still managed three players with over-ager Ava Read<\/a> huge in game one, while National Academy pair Priya Bowering<\/a> and Mischa Barwin<\/a> stepped up in game two over the weekend. Another player who made a starring return to the competition was Chloe Baker-West<\/a> who unsurprisingly was named on-ball after her massive 44 disposals against the Dragons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The only team to play in Round 11 but not Round 12 in Murray Bushrangers managed three players in a loss, with utility Ellie Hall<\/a> named at centre half-back, Skylah McPherson<\/a> named in a forward pocket after two goals from 28 touches, and double bottom-ager Evie Henley<\/a> also made it in after impressing in the front half of the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Completing the 24-strong squad are a couple of Falcons and Jets, as athletic Geelong tall Ally Lappin<\/a> was named at half-back and her teammate Alana Mulvahil<\/a> on the bench.
