A WHOPPING 19 of the 24 players in our WAFL Women’s Team of the Week for Round 14 came from the quartet of winning sides in what was a largely one-sided weekend of action. Only Claremont (three players) had more than one on the losing side of the ledger, while Subiaco, Swan Districts and East Fremantle (five) and South Fremantle (four) all had plenty of representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leading the hypothetical team out for Round 14 is one of the Dhara Kerr Medal favourites in Subiaco’s Krstel Petrevski<\/a>. The ex-Demon and Eagle racked up a league-high 39 disposals, six marks, four tackles and five inside 50s in the Lions’ massive win over the Demons. She shares the leadership and midfield with another ex-AFLW talent in Matilda Sergeant<\/a> who earned the vice-captaincy after 32 disposals, six tackles and four inside 50s for Claremont in the tough loss to South Fremantle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Subiaco produced two of the forwards as well with Aimee Schmidt<\/a> and Chloe Shearing<\/a> both slotting three majors on the weekend. They were part of a front six that produced a massive 22 goals between them, headlined by Swan Districts’ Taylah Edwards<\/a> half a dozen majors. Her Swans teammate Summer Yarran<\/a> (four), and East Fremantle pair Anjelique Raison<\/a> and Chloe Reilly<\/a> (three apiece) made the forwardline selection easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other Lions in the team were ex-Swans Lisa Steane<\/a> and Paige Sheppard<\/a> who were named on the wing and interchange given the strength of the on-ball group in Round 14. The depth was so good that Swan Districts midfielder Jaime Henry<\/a> made her way to half-back for the team to try and fit everybody in. She had 36 disposals herself and was joined in the starting team by ruck Lauren Quaife<\/a>, while Summer Ajduk<\/a> stood out and earned a spot on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Along with Raison and Reilly, fellow former West Australian State Academy members Natasha Entwistle<\/a> – who returned after representing Sandringham Zebras in the VFLW this season – and Noa McNaughton<\/a> stood out, while experienced Torrens Revell<\/a> made it onto the bench. They were far too good for Peel Thunder, with skipper Ebony Dowson<\/a> named in the back pocket as her side’s sole representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking of sole representatives, Isabella Shannon<\/a> stood up again in Perth’s big defeat, named in the centre, with South Fremantle’s Tahleah Mulder<\/a> on the other wing to Steane. Mulder was not alone however, one of four Bulldogs in the side with defenders Hunter Cronin<\/a> and Liusaidh Gilchrist<\/a>, and the hard running Tara Stribley<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Completing the 24-strong squad are Claremont duo Mackenzie Webb<\/a> and Kate Orme<\/a>, while two-time Dhara Kerr Medallist Jayme Harken<\/a>‘s 30 disposals were unlucky not to earn her a spot. She was named among the emergencies with another 30-plus disposal winner in Chloe Wrigley<\/a>, and Perth co-captain Holly Britton<\/a>.
