A COUPLE of state sides have already wrapped up their AFL Women’s Under 18 Championships in Western Australia and Vic Metro, while the Allies will do so this coming weekend. Given last week’s AFLW Draft Power Rankings, we cast our eyes over six players – one from each state – who have moved up the draft boards following strong carnivals, or starts to carnivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The West Australian MVP has always been thereabouts in the second round log-jam, but her incredibly consistent carnival justified her place among the top 30 players. There might be other flashier prospects, but what D’Addario does well is vital to a team’s success. Her stoppage craft is elite, she can use the ball well going forward, and has ultra clean hands which, combined well alongside her strength, make her a formidable opponent around the coalface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our highest ranked inclusion in the Power Rankings, Johnson was a coin toss for the final spot in the last Power Rankings, but continued excellence both for the Knights and Vic Metro made her an obvious choice. Easily top three for Vic Metro over the course of the four games, the former forward has found a terrific niche in the other two thirds of the ground. Aerially she rises above most others, and she looks to bite off those dangerous kicks to open the game up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another one who was right in the mix for the last Power Rankings, Johnstone’s power and impact-per-possession shines through at whatever level she plays. So strong in close and a knack for bursting through would-be tacklers, the GWV Rebels talent always finds a way to hit the scoreboard even when predominantly playing midfield. A nightmare matchup for any defender, she has a penetrating kick and great forward craft that enables her to either score or find someone who will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the beneficiaries of being handed more responsibility between the arcs in the face of Suns Academy and Queensland injuries, Nurse is finding the consistency that earned her a place in the Power Rankings and has clubs even outside of Gold Coast keeping a watch on her. She is explosive with good skills, and that always puts you a step ahead of most. Her venture inside this season showed she has potential there, and will be looking to cap off her national campaign in style the next fortnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quinn has been an intriguing one because she’s not necessarily a riser in the sense that she has always been in that top 30 range, but more so her games of late have impacted more around the ground. A three-goal game for UTS Bats followed by an eye-catching performance against Western Australia showed she can play that 50\/50 split between ruck and forward, and with the athleticism and clean hands she has, it is natural that she has enormous potential for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

August Power Rankings:<\/strong> #30<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South Australian captain has had a massive year in 2025 and added another trophy to the collection on Monday night when announced as the SANFL Women’s Breakthrough Player for 2025. One of the hardest runners with a rare speed-endurance mix, Trengove leads by example and does all the defensive elements right, while being able to hit the scoreboard. Only halfway through the Croweaters carnival but would be a leading candidate for the MVP given her two performances thus far too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
