Another win by less than a kick against the Allies was a cause for a sigh of relief, while a 50-point demolition of rivals Vic Country ensured Metro finished with a percentage-boosting victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-worked\">WHAT WORKED<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Metro&#8217;s top-end midfield talent shone throughout the tournament with <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"134168\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/chloe-bown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chloe Bown<\/a> and <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"134918\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/tayla-mcmillan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tayla McMillan<\/a> leading the way, while Northern Knights duo <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"128525\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/marlo-graham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marlo Graham<\/a> and <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"139583\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/olivia-gorman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olivia Gorman<\/a> also provided great support around the ball and up forward. Racking up the ball with ease, Bown&#8217;s ability to win it both on the inside and outside stood the test of time, setting up numerous scoring attacks. The bottom-aged Martin is ultra-athletic and strong above her head, making her a nightmare to matchup on for any defender. She often found space and penetrated the forward half of the ground well, but was willing to bite off the risky kicks on the inside too. Defensively she was the pick of the Metro players, while fellow Knight Gorman through the middle and <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"128509\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/olivia-jesser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olivia Jesser<\/a> both stood out. Eastern Ranges&#8217; wing <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"139579\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/asher-fearn-wannan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asher Fearn-Wannan<\/a> provided vital run and carry, with Allen doing the same from half-back. <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"139552\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/chloe-thorn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chloe Thorn<\/a> and <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"151586\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/macy-watkins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Macy Watkins<\/a> had their moments, with Bamford and Neuwirth providing strength in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-future\">THE FUTURE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin is looming as the top prospect for next year with her continued dominance inside 50. Her fellow Metro prospect <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"151889\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/brylee-anderson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brylee Anderson<\/a> was deployed at both ends but will be a midfielder next season, with Vic Metro&#8217;s heavy focus on top-agers meant limited chances for 2008-born players.
