IT WAS a season to forget for the Magpies in 2024 as Collingwood slumped to its first women’s wooden spoon and only third in complete club history. The benefit was picking up generational talent Ash Centra with pick one, who will change the delivery inside 50 which was Collingwood’s Achilles heel last year. If they can get the ball in her hands going forward, then the Pies forwards will be licking their lips. Given they do not travel outside Victoria until Round 8 – and only travel twice and to the lowest ranked interstate teams for last year – to say their fixture is kind is an understatement. They still face some big challenges against last year’s grand finalists, but realistically should be able to notch up a few wins at a minimum.
