Claremont earned its spot in the decider with a victory over Subiaco in the qualifying final, having been on the brink of defeat several times in the match. But the highs and lows of footy could not be more evident this finals series with Swan Districts then upsetting the Lions, having also been set to exit the finals a week earlier when down by a couple of goals to East Fremantle in a slog. Both teams have made it this far, there is only jubilation and disappointment for the respective sides left now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both teams have opted to make heartbreaking decisions ans bring in some more run at the expense of an unlucky player. Claremont has recalled Bridie Garlick<\/a> in exchange for tall forward Bec Anderson<\/a>, while ex-AFLW Eagle Demi Liddle<\/a> has found a way into Swan Districts’ side with midfielder Tyla Fitzgerald<\/a> the one unfortunately making way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW DRAFT WATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
A trio of players will test at the AFLW Draft Combines invitees with Carys D’Addario<\/a> set to test at the National Combine, while Claremont pair Juliet Kelly<\/a> and Ella Gilbey<\/a> will likely break some records in the yo-yo and 20m sprint respectively at the West Australian State Combine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KEY PLAYERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
D’Addario and Jaime Henry<\/a> showed last week they will not be overawed by a star-studded on-ball group with the pair and Naomi Baker<\/a> set to tackle the trio of Matilda Sergeant<\/a>, Jayme Harken<\/a> and Sarah Viney<\/a>, with Kelly to likely roll through and take a big job on one of the duo. Swan Districts have the leading goalkicker in Taylah Edwards<\/a> who has been out of form of late, but can always turn it on. With Emily McGuire<\/a> down there as well, the likes of Mackenzie Webb<\/a> and Claire Ortlepp<\/a> will be crucial to the Tigers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Up the other end, Megan Green<\/a> looms as the danger inside 50, though Rachel Ortlepp<\/a> steps up on the big stage, and the experience of Kate Orme<\/a> between a wing and half-forward is valuable. Isabella Edgley<\/a> and skipper Eliza Gelmi<\/a> played well last week against the Subiaco forwards, and will need to do so again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swan Districts showed they can beat anyone on their day with a victory over Subiaco last week, so it is definitely possible for the Swans to cause an upset. However the Tigers have been so consistent not just in 2025, but the last few years and you have to respect that. Based on how the finals series has gone – a combined margin of four points across three games – expect it to be less than a goal the difference.<\/p>\n
