She hit the scoreboard for both the Devils and Allies, and that development in her game from being purely inside to a really well-balanced midfielder took her to another level. She now looms as a natural ball-winner with some nice tricks, and deservedly grabbed a National Draft Combine invite.

Mischa Barwin (Lauderdale)
Forward/Midfielder | 167cm | 04/12/2007

Stats [9 games]: 19.8 disposals, 3.9 marks, 5.8 tackles, 2.6 clearances, 3.6 inside 50s, 7 goals

One of two Tasmanians tipped to go in teh first round, Barwin has the evasive skills and smarts to do a lot of damage in a high half-forward role. While at times she can do a tend too much, her high risk-high reward gamestyle means she can inflict a lot of pain on the opposition when it comes off. Backing herself consistently to sidestep others or breakthrough tackles, she does well in any role be it forward, on-ball or even the wing as she did for the Allies.

Priya Bowering (Lauderdale)
Midfielder | 169cm | 02/01/2007

Stats [9 games]: 20.4 disposals, 3.1 marks, 4.8 tackles, 5.0 clearances, 4.6 inside 50s, 1.9 rebound 50s, 2 goals

The National Academy member continued her remarkable few seasons through the Devils and Allies programs, winning an MVP at the national championships to go with All-Australian honours alongside Barwin. She is one of those absolute locks in terms of what you come to expect, with her ball-winning ability, leadership, footy IQ and strength all outstanding. At 174cm she is that inbetween height of the two roles, and is a fierce, aggressive player at ground level too. She booted a goal a game for the Devils, and was able to draw opponents away from others given her strength in the air. In the end, she still booted eight goals, but her intercepting work behind the ball stood out. Developing her game well, she earned a call-up to the Allies for a couple of matches too, and was able to further stake her draft claims to earn a combine invitation.

FUTURE PROSPECTS

Tasmania’s top prospect next season is Evie Ward who showed some nice progression, particularly in the absence of the combine invitees due to Allies duties.
