AFTER Southport secured a direct ticket into the QAFL Women’s Grand Final, the team the Sharks beat in Morningside will look to maximise its second chance against a Coorparoo team in some fantastic form of late. We preview the massive preliminary final tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MORNINGSIDE (2nd) vs. COORPAROO (4th) The last time these two sides faced off was at the very ground back on June 28 when Morningside got up by 16 points in Round 11. The Panthers were coming off their first loss of the season against Aspley and took home the four points in style. It made the head-to-head between the teams for season 2025 a commanding 2-0 after a tight 3.1 (19) to 2.3 (15) triumph in Round 5 at Giffin Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Morningside comes into the clash off the back of back-to-back heavy losses but both were to the team likely to claim the flag in Southport, with the Panthers winning all the rest bar the Aspley clash. Coorparoo on the other hand has been in do-or-die mode for a while now and actually ended the season a little shaky with losses to both Aspley and Bond University, only to turn that form around to knock off Wilston Grange and then the Bull Sharks to reach the preliminary final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The midfield battle between Laura Roy<\/a> and Grace Roberts-White<\/a> will be a key clash within the match, with competition leading clearance player Isabella Levine and Coorparoo’s Chelsea Winn <\/strong>also among the most prominent players at the coalface. Up forward, Chelsea Chesterfield<\/a> takes more marks than anyone, while up the other end of hte field, Lucy Bellinger<\/a> looms as an experienced focal point in attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking to the youth, and it is hard to look past bottom-age duo Harlee McIlwain<\/a> and Zoe Petrides<\/a> for the Panthers who have the potential to do a lot of damage for the red, white and black. Also in the Morningside team are the likes of Stella Scott<\/a>, Ella Gibson<\/a> and Annabel Peacock<\/a> who are bottom-age talents to watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Kings, they also have a pair of dangerous forwards that come in the form of tall Indiana Scheffler<\/a> – a dominant mark inside 50 – and Edie Fraser<\/a>, an Under 16s All-Australian who also played some great footy for Queensland’s Under 18s side. With ex-Roo Chloe Haines<\/a> also in the team, the Kings will feel they can cause an upset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Morningside has been the better team this year and should be the one to beat in the game. If Coorparoo can take control of the midfield it will go a long way towards the Panthers winning, but if they lose at the source, it could be a long day for them.
