TWO ADDITIONS to the AFL Women’s State Draft Combine have been made this week with Western Jets wing Charlie O’Connor Moreira<\/a> having tested last Friday as part of the Victorian and eastern states combine, while Perth Demons defender Sienna Timmermans<\/a> has been added for Sunday’s Combine in Western Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The additions come in the wake of Claremont’s Juliet Kelly<\/a> being upgraded for the National Draft Combine following fellow Sandgroper Alira Fotu<\/a> withdrawing due to her WNBL commitments with Perth Lynx. Both O’Connor Moreira and Timmermans have enjoyed consistent years for their respective sides, with the latter of course representing Western Australia at the national championships as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O’Connor Moreira had a blistering finish to the year, and while she only played nine games, improved out of sight compare to her top-age campaign. Most often running off a wing, her ground coverage and overall athletic profile really stood out in the Coates Talent League. She is still developing some fundamental areas, but finished the year with an average of 19.7 disposals and 4.1 marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While predominantly outside, O’Connor Moreira was not afraid to push in and add an extra number to the contest, laying 5.4 tackles per game, and producing five inside 50s as well. She ran hard all over the field, and alongside some talented bottom-agers, enhanced her case to be drafted. Really coming from the clouds, O’Connor Moreira is more of a long-term option, but certainly has draftable traits, recording the fastest 20m sprint time of the State Draft Combine invitees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timmermans became the sole over-age player to earn a Draft Combine invite and one of only two players – alongside South Australian Melissa Anderson<\/strong> – to earn an invite when born prior to 2007. Timmermans was a reliable force in defence for Perth this season, and in the wake of Western Australia not having the services of injured two-time MVP Evie Cowcher<\/strong>, Timmermans filled na important defensive role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While not a massive accumulator – Timmermans averaged 5.5 disposals at the national championships – the Perth tall enabled the likes of Olivia Crane <\/strong>and Maya Louvel-Finn<\/strong> to also provide run and carry. Timmermans focused on a lockdown role each game, though still showed at times she could provied that offensive impact when required. She is tipped to be more of a readymade one-on-one option down back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
