FREMANTLE secured its main target over the off-season in Eden Zanker<\/a> to provide some extra height and continuity up forward given the injury concerns of the past couple of seasons in that region. The Dockers had a number of retirements over the off-season, and will look to add a trio of young talents at the draft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the point of publication, the Dockers only have one available list spot, which means Fremantle will likely have to clear up a couple of spots in order to pick players with its three remaining selections. They all come relatively close together – within 11 selections of each other – and therefore can get a good idea at their first pick how the Dockers are situated. The inclusion of Zanker gives them the readymade talent, with Lily Johnson<\/a> a talented young player too, while four retirements shows a changing of the guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIRST PICK:<\/strong>
Pick 35<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a chance the Dockers just look local for their selections given there will be a number of West Australian prospects in the mix through the middle part of the draft. Like most teams, Fremantle has opted for athletic players with upside in recent times, so expect that to continue. The Dockers have the likes of East Fremantle forward Alicia Blizard<\/a> in that region, though whether or not the West Australian club goes for another athletic tall is uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the year coach Lisa Webb noted the importance of adding extra outside run to the team, so South Australian Lily Baxter<\/a> or Vic Metro’s Asher Fearn-Wannan<\/a> are a couple of options. The Dockers love the Eastern Ranges pathway, having picked up both Georgie Brisbane<\/strong> and Evie Parker<\/strong> last year, so Fearn-Wannan seems a perfect pick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If one of the others mentioned above was still there, they would be hard to deny. From other options, Mikaylah Antony<\/a> and Mia Anderson<\/a> can run and take the ball in transition. Gold Coast Suns Academy member Rhianna Ingram<\/a> is in that same mould and might give the Suns something to think about if a bid came, while Oakleigh Chargers skipper Chloe Thorn<\/a>‘s competitive appetite aligns with the Dockers current squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is largely a game of wait-and-see for Fremantle fans, and might end up only two live selections depending on delistings. Isabelle Creaton<\/a> and Ashleigh Thatcher<\/a> are two more Ranges who fit the athletic need, while local hopes Maya Louvel-Finn<\/a>, Ava Stewart<\/a> and Ella Gilbey<\/a> have developed impressively the last 12 months. Another West Australian tall defender Sienna Timmermans<\/a> has shot up some draft boards too as a lockdown type as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
