PORT Adelaide has been able to secure a couple of experienced players and finish the AFLW Trade Period with two AFLW Draft selections inside the top 30, including a top 10 pick which will hold the Power in good stead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ellie Hampson<\/a> can add extra hardness around the ball and has flexibility to play in other roles, with Port’s first pick in the hitting zone of a number of quality players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FIRST PICK:<\/strong> Port Adelaide’s Pick 10 will likely slide out to at least 16, and quite possibly 18 depending on how bids go in the first round given the amount of Academy talent from both Gold Coast and Sydney. The Power themselves could well get involved in the bidding process, with the likes of Gold Coast pair Alannah Welsh<\/a> and Mikayla Nurse<\/a> around the mark that could fit needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As for who the Power might look to, they have the classy Jordyn Allen<\/a> in the hitting zone, and she will complement the strong inside brigade at Alberton. Grabbing a pressure forward who can run up the ground would also suit Port’s running style and Tasmanian Mischa Barwin<\/a> – who will have to relocate regardless – is one such option that fits a need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One would imagine her Devils teammate Priya Bowering<\/a> or country kid Maggie Johnstone<\/a> would be great options if they did happen to be there as well. From a local perspective, the Power might select Central District’s Sophie Eaton<\/a> ahead of their cross-town rivals, with South Australian skipper Imogen Trengove<\/a> another possibility in what could become a later teens pick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n REMAINING CROP:<\/strong> Port Adelaide usually go local with at least one selection, and Pick 30 could be the one given the amount of South Australians likely to be there and at the top of lists at that selection. West Adelaide’s Lucy Waye<\/a> might be next best at that point and like Barwin, fits a nice need within Port’s style. South Adelaide’s Lily Baxter<\/a> is another with a similar ground coverage ability and elite skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If the Power are looking a little taller, Port could opt for the high upside Eloise Mackereth<\/a> who should be around that mark. While from interstate, it will be fascinating to see if Olivia Crane<\/a> is still there as she can have a like-for-like swap with Cuthbertson, and add a little more dazzle further afield as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A few other names who might interest at this pick could be Eastern Ranges wing Asher Fearn-Wannan<\/a> – pairing with Allen would be a nice one-two punch by the Power – as well as Tasmanian Mia Anderson<\/a> and Sturt’s Monique Bessen<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n KEY QUESTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n – Will Port Adelaide go local or look further abroad for its first selection? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
