WEST Coast continues to improve each year under coach Daisy Pearce<\/em><\/strong>, and after a massive draft haul last season, the Eagles are set to be quieter at the 2025 AFLW Draft. The blue and gold will pick up two players, including one inside the top 20 with a first round pick, as they hope to sustain their place in finals next season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eagles brought back a couple of local players in Ella Slocombe<\/a> and Lily Paterson<\/a> to add to further midfield depth and in the case of the former, up forward as well. West Coast also managed to get Keeley Skepper<\/a> in a cheap-as-chips deal, adding further experience to the squad that lost club legend Dana Hooker<\/strong> as well as Lucy Boyd<\/strong> back home in the Paterson trade. The Eagles grabbed a trio of future fourth rounders next year, while still maintaining first-rounders in both drafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIRST PICK:<\/strong>
Pick 12<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An ideal choice for the Eagles at Pick 12 – which will slide down to potentially 18 or 19 – could be one of the local prospects Evie Cowcher<\/a> or Carys D’Addario<\/a>. The former is unlikely to be there, but the latter could definitely be in the mix, which would further add to the club’s on-ball group. Though the Eagles do not shy away from picking an interstate prospect, with Vic Country and South Australian sides particularly featuring of late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The classy Sophie Eaton<\/a> – to reunite with former Central District teammate Charlotte Riggs<\/strong> – would be a great get, as would South Australian skipper Imogen Trengove<\/a>. Powerful midfielder\/forward Maggie Johnstone<\/a> or similarly built Priya Bowering<\/a> would come with similar high wraps and immediate impact if they slid to the Eagles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMAINING CROP:<\/strong>
Picks 36<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pearce has shown an ability to bring in really smart footballers who can play across multiple lines, and one such player could be Sturt’s Monique Bessen<\/a>. She is softly spoken, but lets her football do the talking, and can play midfield, forward, or as she showed at the national championships, off a wing. Bessen and Eaton could be quite a pairing if the Eagles went that way, and the skills the side would be bringing in would be sublime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A forward option that could add to the rotation might be Nalu Brothwell<\/a> out of the Dandenong Stingrays, while Ella Stoddart<\/a> is another country kid with a raking left boot. Oakleigh Chargers’ Chloe Thorn<\/a> and Bendigo Pioneers’ Ella Jeffrey<\/a> will add versatilty and smarts around the ground. From a local perspective, Alicia Blizard<\/a> provides plenty of highlights as a developing tall forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
