THE NORTHERN Territory Football League’s (NTFL) All-Star showcase takes place tomorrow, with four games set to deliver the best the NT has to offer. Under 18 boys and girls open the show for fixtures between the senior locals and imports, and we highlight the players to watch in each match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNDER 18 FUTURES GIRLS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Both sides boast several players with Women’s Premier League (WPL) exposure this year, highlighting how quickly the next generation is emerging. Tiwi forward Taniesha John-Forrest<\/strong> is the Heat’s most experienced, playing 13 times for five appearances in the Bombers’ bests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maitea Golowyn <\/strong>has also managed 13 games for Palmerston and will join John-Forrest up forward. Wanderers’ Daisha Daly<\/a> is one to watch off half-back having been named in the bests for half of her 10 WPL games this year. Fellow Muk Muk Niesha Casimiro<\/strong> lines up next to her in defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Heat side is bookended by full forward Gabriella Reisinger<\/a> and full back Anjel Noble-Webster<\/strong>, who recently made her WPL debut for Darwin. Through midfield, the likes of Makenzy Smith<\/a> and Grace Anstess<\/a> have plenty of potential, along with winger Lara Leanne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the Spears lineup is reigning NT Under 16 MVP Layla May<\/a>. She’ll be serviced by ruck Jonita Kingsley<\/strong>, who has been named in Wanderers’ bests for five of her eight WPL appearances. Palmerston’s Lailanie Rioli<\/strong> joins them among an exciting engine room mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forwardline features Angel Ahfat<\/strong>, who along with Shakana Rankine<\/a> and Kayla Ilett<\/a> boasts senior experience this year. Down back, Nightcliff’s Jessica Hardwick<\/a> is sure to be prominent next to the likes of Claire Corbett<\/strong> and Maddison Hunter<\/strong>, who has played footy down in Victoria for Torquay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNDER 18 FUTURES BOYS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Plenty of prominent NT Academy members are littered across both the Heat and Spears squads, no less prospects with Men\u2019s Premier League experience. The Heat half-back line is sure to be an eye-catcher, featuring MPL regulars Hau-Tze Rock<\/a>, Deacon Summerville<\/a>, and Kairyce Lowah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nathaniel Lampton<\/a> should help them connect the lines off the wing and into a forwardline which features Edward Darcy<\/a>. The midfield should also generate plenty of momentum with Under 16 All-Australian Gus Trigwell<\/a> lining up next to Gary Lawford<\/a>, who is part of the Oakleigh Chargers program in Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spears\u2019 midfield is just as star-studded, with towering ruck Isaac Herold<\/a> having Zac Withers<\/a>, Sonny Smiler<\/a>, and Riley Seden-Kurnoth<\/strong> at his feet. All four have made their MPL debuts, with Withers in particular becoming a permanent fixture for Waratah this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reigning Territory Under 16 MVP Hugo Timms<\/a> spearheads a forwardline which also features the dangerous Jaren Sambo<\/strong>. Meanwhile, Southern Districts pair Sydney-Jack Baker<\/strong> and Ben Barnard<\/a> shore up the defence having recently made an impact in the Crocs’ MPL side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SENIOR WOMEN’S ALL-STARS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Team Heat, featuring local talent and long-time NTFL players, is captained by St Mary’s defender Janet Baird<\/a>. She’s among the several players to have had experience on an AFLW list, leading from the likes of Stephanie Williams<\/a> and Ashanti Bush<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forwardline is stacked with firepower, as the WPL’s second and third leading goalkickers – Cassie McWilliam<\/a> and Eva Harris<\/a> – team up. Darwin pair Molly Althouse<\/a> and Jenara Grant<\/a> bring experience, while young guns Peggy Rock<\/a>, Tatyana Perry<\/a>, and Marika Carlton<\/a> are sure to steal the show with their flair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Spears boasts the rare flex of having a current AFLW player in its ranks – Greater Western Sydney ruck Fleur Davies<\/a>. The talented team of imports is set to be led by co-captains Gabby Deller<\/a> and Maddi Shaw<\/a>, who have also made their names in the VFLW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the big names are ex-AFLW players Zimmorlei Farquharson<\/a> and Renee Tierney<\/a>, who have both been boom recruits for their sides. Palmerston pair Ella Ward<\/a> and Shannon Murphy<\/a> are others who have made a serious impression this season, and should give the Spears an edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SENIOR MEN’S ALL-STARS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Heat men’s team is nothing short of stacked. Willie Rioli <\/strong>takes the reins as captain, leading a lineup of several former AFL-listed players. That list included midfield bull Brandan Parfitt<\/a>, youngsters Jayden Davey<\/a> and Lloyd Johnston<\/a>, and talls Wade Derksen<\/a> and Ryan Nyhuis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere, the likes of Matt Dennis<\/strong>, Scott Carlin<\/a>, and Dylan Landt<\/a> have established themselves as modern NTFL champions, making the team as decorated imports. Meanwhile, recent milestone men Jarrod Stokes<\/strong> and Braedon McLean<\/strong> are living legends of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading the talented Team Spears is Waratah\u2019s Cody Szust<\/strong>. Ex-AFL duo Connor West<\/a> and James Rowe<\/a> are sure to run amok in a midfield which bats deep. The likes of VFL trio Archie Stevens<\/a>, Riley Baldi<\/a>, and Jack Brown<\/a> will also want a go through the guts, along with Mitchell Trewhella<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up forward, the dynamic Shay Linke<\/a> and former-AFL goalkicker Fergus Greene<\/a> should provide some firepower in combination with the current MPL leading goalkicker Noah Spiteri<\/strong>. Other key names to keep an eye out for include Lachie Tardew<\/strong> and Charlie Offermans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
