ANOTHER season of SANFL Women’s action is just around the corner, and while the league year is a little later than usual, South Australian footy fans have the brand new AAMI Talent League to look forward to starting February 28. As has become an annual tradition for Rookie Me Central<\/em>, we name our top juniors from the league to keep an eye on for the year ahead with the only criteria being either top-age or younger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue our top 15 players to watch countdown – which will run over the three weeks to finish on the eve of the Talent League season – with Glenelg balanced midfielder\/wing Georgie Fielder<\/a> the next player to analyse ahead of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fielder has taken a similar path to her Glenelg predecessors such as Piper Window<\/strong> and Violet Patterson<\/strong>, where she has started out on a wing, but slowly built up to midfield minutes. Given the departure of stars Jess Bates<\/strong> and Sam Franson<\/strong>, expect Fielder to own her more permanent inside role, and use her well-balanced game to standout for the Bays in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Strengths<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fielder ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to her game. The fact she can play inside or outside is a real benefit, and it is no surprise that she can apply just as much defensive pressure as she can offensive impact. She had ups and downs last season which is not too much of a surprise given Glenelg’s disappointing year, but her best was sublime. Fielder’s last three games saw her average 23 disposals, three marks, five clearances, three inside 50s and five tackles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2026<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned, Fielder should have a far more settled inside midfield role, not just at Glenelg, but South Australia too. She showed when around the ball she is a natural clearance player, winning four or more clearances in seven of her 12 SANFLW games. When the game was on the line against Central District, she kicked a crucial goal in her sole victory for the competition last season, and that element of scoreboard pressure is a way she can further develop in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summary<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fielder has a lot of nice traits that stand out, and though she has dabbled between the inside and outside in the past, will thrive around the ball with her offensive-defensive balance and no doubt go to another level in 2026. Watch for her to be a figurehead in a developing Glenelg side, and play a key role under second-year coach Talia Radan<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
