ANOTHER season of WAFLW Women’s action is just around the corner, with the season kicking off on March 28. As we did with the SANFL Women’s competition, Rookie Me Central<\/em> will count down 15 players to watch in the upcoming year, focusing on either top-age or bottom-age prospects to keep in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue our top 15 players to watch countdown – which will run over the three weeks to finish on the eve of the WAFL Women’s season – with ball-winning midfielder\/forward Summer Ajduk<\/a> who had a breakout year for Swan Districts in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajduk was one of the stories of the 2025 WAFLW season, with the Swan Districts bottom-ager impressing through the League side despite not being named in the West Australian summer or winter programs. She held her own through the midfield and rotated forward where she was among the top few players each week and caught the eye with her smarts and athleticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A member of the 16s program two years ago, Ajduk really proved she belonged in the state squad with a strong season through the middle for the Swannies. She found her fair share of the ball which was a strength in itself given how many natural ball-winners such as Jaime Henry<\/strong> and Carys D’Addario<\/strong> were going around, but could also go forward and set up a number of scoring chances too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her contest work for a slight midfielder was quite impressive as she got into the right spots, won the ball and then would get it forward effectively time and time again. To couple with her footy smarts, Ajduk also showed off a nice set of wheels as the well-balanced athlete could breakaway from the contest or her direct opponent and have an impact anywhere in the front half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2026<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjuk is a player who has shown a taste for what she is capable of in her bottom-age campaign, but there is plenty more to come. She can further add strength to her frame, which will help her compete better one-on-one around the coalface as another way of getting on top as well as her natural smarts. Furthermore, the top-ager has set her sights on improving her groundballs to be cleaner and obtain the ball even faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer Ajduk had a real breakout season last year, with the Swan Districts midfielder ultra-impressive around the ball. She wasted no time in reminding the state pathway selectors what she is capable of, and with natural progression and development, Ajduk can go to another level in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
