OAKLEIGH Chargers forward Sebastian Marsic<\/a>\u00a0is our Talent League Player of the Week after booting a big bag of goals in Round 2. The 194cm tall broke out with seven majors from 15 disposals and six marks as the Chargers claimed a 24-point upset win over local rival, Sandringham on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marsic’s exploits came from seemingly nowhere, having managed five touches and four marks on debut last week. The top-ager took no time to get on the board this time out, slotting the game’s first goal in under two minutes. He made a knack for it, doing the same in terms three and four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to his tally in each quarter, nine of Marsic’s 11 kicks resulted in scores and he proved a decisive avenue to goal with two of his six marks being contested. He also chopped out in the ruck to win three hitouts and a clearance, capping off what was a strong all-round performance inside 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2026 marks Marsic’s first year in Oakleigh’s program. He ended up forming a terrific partnership with Flynn Woolhouse<\/a>, who kicked three goals and was just as dangerous in the air. At the other end, mid-season draft hopeful Ollie Griffin<\/a> ran rampant for Sandringham with nine marks and four goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a Dragons star claimed the Round 1 Player of the Week crown, this week it happened against them. Last week’s winner Arki Butler<\/a> was held to just 13 touches and no goals, leaving Albert MacGowan<\/a> to take charge of his side’s midfield. Bottom-ager Harper McCullough<\/a> was fierce for Oakleigh, amassing 22 disposals, six tackles and 10 clearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around the grounds, there were some major ball winners. Western Jets midfielder Lachlan Hicks<\/a> racked up 39 touches in the loss to Tasmania, while Jake Beams<\/a> (35 disposals, 10 rebound 50s, one goal) was once again untouchable for the Devils alongside Hugh McCallum<\/a> (25 disposals, 12 marks, two goals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pair of Northern mids dominated in dour conditions as the Knights thumped reigning premier Eastern. Namely, Max Downes<\/a> (27 disposals, six clearances) and Harvie Cooke<\/a> (21 disposals, five clearances) took charge and booted two goals apiece to compliment their ball-winning prowess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high-scoring draw between Murray and Bendigo was headlined by a battle between two Richmond NGA products. Tanner Armstrong<\/a> (30 disposals, nine clearances, one goal) and Carlton father-son nominee Cody Walker<\/a> (30 disposals, 11 clearances, one goal) filled their boots for the respective sides in what ended up being a thrilling encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another great midfield battle saw Geelong gun Noah Williams<\/a> put together 32 disposals and 11 tackles while Greater Western Victoria skipper Ethan Drever<\/a> notched 25 touches, eight clearances and two vital goals. The latter couldn’t quite get his Rebels over the line at MARS Stadium, going down by four points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other standout performances included Marcus Prasad<\/a>‘s 24 disposals and 2.3 as Dandenong upset Gippsland. Midfielder Jackson Phillips<\/a> also continues his rise after 28 touches and seven clearances. Meanwhile, Brisbane’s comfortable Q-Clash win over Gold Coast saw Matthew Owen<\/a> lead all comers with 29 disposals and seven marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
