He certainly did so with two electric goals in full flight; first with a front-and-centre crumb in term two, and next with a steady finish on the run in term four. The diminutive forward searched high up the ground and joined in at the front of stoppages, enjoying a bit of niggle as he hunted the ground balls. He also showed a strong set of hands on the lead for a small player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #11 <\/strong>Heath Wilson<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>16 disposals, 7 marks, 1 goal<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wilson was South Fremantle\u2019s chief distributor out of the backline and had little trouble racking up uncontested possessions. He helped dictate slow play deep in defence, but also ventured up through the corridor and looked to hit targets on the way forward. The left-footer\u2019s crisp skills made him a threat when delivering the ball inside 50, including with his running goal in the third quarter. South Fremantle’s dominance allowed him to play with freedom and confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #18 <\/strong>Max Jones<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>17 disposals, 3 marks<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the most impactful bottom-agers afield, Jones initially caught the eye with a huge leap at the back of a pack. While he didn’t reel in the mark, it was a sighter for the powerful and athletic acts to follow. Often playing off the back shoulder, Jones trusted his speed and leap to either shut down opponents in the air or produce intercepts. He was rarely beaten, if at all, and while he possesses an element of rawness, has great physical qualities. Being able to hold more marks and hurt the opposition with his ball use will take him to another level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #20 <\/strong>Hudson Graham<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>18 disposals, 7 marks, 1 goal<\/p>\n\n\n\n Graham was among the tall and dynamic South Fremantle defenders who made it near-impossible for Perth to score. He earned an early confidence boost, intercepting on defensive wing before a 50m penalty brought him in range of goal. He cooly converted with a smooth left-foot motion. Graham would go on to utilise his foot skills and was a reliable set of hands across the defensive half. His bodywork held up well, too, particularly when he plucked another intercept in term three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #23 <\/strong>Byron Foster<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>16 disposals, 9 marks, 2 tackles<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another of South Fremantle\u2019s state squad members, Foster continues to settle into his role down back. He showcased great mobility by peeling off to get involved in his side\u2019s transitional play, not afraid to take ground before launching forward by foot. Foster was ambitious at times but his high positioning helped the Bulldogs sustain forward half pressure. What\u2019s more, the top-ager was a cool head deeper in defence where he clunked intercept marks and showed his aerial prowess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #24 <\/strong>Conor Bushe-Jones<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>14 disposals, 15 hitouts, 3 goals<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yet another South Fremantle tall who showed out on Sunday, Bushe-Jones’ impact wasn’t just felt in the ruck battle. He used his reach advantage to access the ball, but was also mobile around the packs and got involved as the Bulldogs transitioned the ball in open play. Bushe-Jones’ three goals were a tick for his role as a resting forward, kicking all three from opportunistic chances under pressure inside 50. He’s light and rangy, but effective and capable of covering the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n PERTH:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n #7 <\/strong>Jamayson Ketchup<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>14 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles<\/p>\n\n\n\n While he didn\u2019t produce eye-popping numbers, Ketchup showed flashes of the talent which earned him state summer squad selection. He started as a high forward and ventured up to the stoppages, but copped close checking from Zac Godwin<\/strong> and struggled to find space. Still, he fought hard to slip free in packs and began to rack up easier possessions once shifted up to the wing. Ketchup\u2019s clean hands and evasive technique came to the fore after half time, along with his punchy foot skills when moving the ball end-to-end. He also got a run on-ball in term four and looked lively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #25 <\/strong>Fynn Tomasini<\/a> Stats: <\/strong>26 disposals, 8 marks, 4 tackles<\/p>\n\n\n\n Things would have been a lot worse for Perth if not for Tomasini\u2019s presence. The bottom-ager was everywhere in the first half, taking intercept marks and throwing himself into each contest. He wasn\u2019t afraid to come back with the flight, and on the flip-side, took the game on with spurts of speed on the rebound. Tomasini\u2019s aerial work and overlap run were key features throughout the day, and he could hardly be faulted for effort. If he can continue to put on size and add a touch more composure to his ball use, he’ll be an even more dangerous multi-dimensional defender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
