The Bull Sharks led by four at quarter time and three at half-time before the Panthers kicked three goals in the third term to be on top heading into the last quarter. However that was all in vain as Bond responded with three unanswered goals to storm home. Kendra Blattman was the key with four goals, while Jasmyn Davidson and Shannon Nolan were also impressive. Greta Liell-Cock and Coco Garton were Morningside’s best in a heartbreaking defeat.

University of Queensland survived a major scare against newcomers Broadbeach, winning 3.4 (22) to 2.4 (16) at the death in another thriller. The Cats booted 2.2 to 0.0 in the first term and led at every change before the Red Lionesses clawed back and kicked two goals in the final term to get up and deny the Cats their maiden QAFLW win. Luka Yoshida-Martin kicked a goal and was among Queensland’s best alongside Elka Barnett, while Makayla Sekac and Halle Cunningham were impressive for Broadbeach in a performance that will give the Cats plenty of confidence despite the result.

Southport reasserted its credentials as reigning premiers with a 9.9 (63) to 4.5 (29) win over previously unbeaten Wilston Grange. The Sharks kicked away with five unanswered goals in the second half after a tight contest at the main break with the Gorillas level at 4.4 to 4.2 at half-time. Olivia Meagher was best on ground with three goals, Holly Wall kicked two, and Tayla Christensen and Siobhan Ross were also standouts. Zimmorlei Farquharson booted two goals in a losing effort, with Keejay Bingham named best on ground for the Gorillas.

Aspley continued to build impressive form with a 7.11 (53) to 2.2 (14) victory over Moreton Bay at South Pine Sporting Complex.
