She got better as the game went on – building through a solid first half into a dominant final term where she drove the ball forward consistently from the midfield and won a holding-the-ball free kick. Her ability to look inside before stepping to the boundary to create space and kick inside 50 was a recurring theme, and seven tackles reflected her defensive pressure alongside the accumulation.

#12 Keira Fawcett (Forward)

Stats: 6 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles, 2 inside 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Fawcett had a dream start to her debut, with the Under 16s All-Austrailan taking a mark back with the flight and then nailed her first WAFLW goal with great composure. She was a genuine aerial threat every time the ball came near her, flying high for a spoil in the second term before laying a tackle at ground level and winning a free kick. Her final passage was equally impressive – setting up a late goal to Ashley Sharp with a tidy kick to the goalsquare one-on-one. Dangerous, composed and a real aerial threat. A strong debut showing.

#13 Shaya Yarran (Wing/Forward)

Stats: 5 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 goal

Yarran did not win a heap of it after being moved from the wing to forward for a different look, but made her moment count in the third term where she nailed a crucial goal to keep the Swans foot down.
