WESTERN Australia will be out to snap its 0-2 start against the SANFLW across the past two years and get a win on home turf against the Croweaters on Saturday. The WAFLW has assembled its strongest side to-date, with a stack of in-form players and balanced mix between talls and smalls. Having lost by 16 points (2024) and eight points (2025) to the South Australians, the WAFLW – again coached by Jack Schwarze<\/em><\/strong> – will be hoping to turn the tables on the tri-colours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the initial squad, a locked in side of 24 players was confirmed recently, with 22 named for gameday and a further two emergencies. The two unlucky players who are ready in the case of late changes are South Fremantle’s Madison Evans<\/a> and West Perth’s Liliana Grassenis<\/a>, with the Falcons the only team without a representative named in the starting side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On-field, the black and gold will be lead by Dhara Kerr Medalist Jayme Harken<\/a> with her namesake Jaime Henry<\/a>, and Subiaco duo Krstel Petrevski<\/a> and Lisa Steane<\/a> all named co vice-captains. The midfield is stacked with the aforementioned names, and the likes of other stars such as Paige Sheppard<\/a> and Natasha Entwistle<\/a>, while big improver Jess Freame<\/a> has been named down back with ex-AFLW players Matilda Sergeant<\/a>, Annabel Johnson<\/a> and Mackenzie Webb<\/a>, and Webb’s East Fremantle teammate Tiani Teakle<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up front, pocket rocket Makaela Tuhakaraina<\/a> and the classy Lucy Greenwood<\/a> are alongside Perth star Isabella Shannon<\/a> and ex-Eagle Courtney Lindgren<\/a>. The likes of Poppy Stockwell<\/a> and the versatile Jae Flynn<\/a> can provide options off the bench, while Perth tall Sienna Timmermans<\/a> and Demons co-captain Holly Britton<\/a> also made the side, as did former Swans AFLW talent, Ruby Sargent-Wilson<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Schwarze said he was looking forward to the representative clash, which kicks off from 12:40pm on Saturday at Sullivan Logistics Stadium as part of a triple-header with the WA Under 18s and Under 20s boys match before, and the men’s WAFL and SANFL clash after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe feel that we\u2019ve picked a really well-balanced side with a mix of youth and experience,\u201d Schwarze said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
