The return of Kate Alexander – coming off her best ever SANFLW game – will further stretch the Vic Metro defence and provide that secondary ruck option, while forward Madeline Nuss will be keen to bounce back after a quiet game two having dominated in game one.

Vic Metro:

The visitors have plenty of run and carry across the board with Isabelle Godfrey, Maddison Meagher and Grace McIntyre all able to move the ball in transition quickly. The inside talent is evident in the form of Brylee Anderson, Emily Rankin, Scout Semple and Isabella Mazzei, all of whom can extract the ball exceptionally well. Defender-midfielder Sophia Green is also coming off a big game against Western Australia.

Continuing their rotational policy, the Vics have brought in Scarlett Bown – the younger sister of reigning MVP and Crows draftee Chloe – who will fittingly play in her sibling’s new home state. Lara Williams adds some nice speed behind the ball, while Lola Stone comes in with a different look up forward. Martin will always been a problem inside 50, but if the Croweaters can managed to reduce her impact, then Bown and Holly Clough are among the tall targets who could pull in a big mark.

WHERE THE GAME IS WON

Like most matches, the team that gets on top of the midfield should have the run of the green for the match. South Australia has the advantage through the ruck, with both midfields stacked. The home side has a deeper forwardline mix with more pure forwards than the Vics, but Metro has no shortage of talls and also running options at ground level that will help transition the ball at rapid speeds.

Metro will look for the overlap and try and catch the South Australian defence napping, while also aiming to isolate Martin one-on-one and generate scores that way. The defensive running of the Croweaters will be important given the speed of the ball movement, while for Metro, the midfield has to be on high alert as South Australia is able to get on top around the ball and have a host of marking targets and high-IQ crumbers who can punish opposition defenders.

PREDICTION:

Vic Metro has had two very different starts to its first two matches. If it can be switched on from the get-go like it was against Queensland, then it will be a very tight game, however if they struggle to take their opportunities in the first half, South Australia is much more likely to punish them on the scoreboard than Western Australia was able to last week. Expect it to be within a couple of goals either way, but the balance and depth of South Australia leans that way.

A POTENTIAL title- deciding clash between South Australia and Vic Metro takes place at Alberton Oval tomorrow in what promises to be a ripping contest.
