Round 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_5178.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-21724\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21724\" src=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_5178.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5178\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>BELTINGS, upsets and amazing individual performances were among the highlights of Round 6 in the TAC Cup.<\/p>\n<p>In the Looking Ahead article, <strong>Dandenong Stingrays<\/strong> and <strong>Northern Knights<\/strong> was predicted to be the most one-sided contest of the round.<\/p>\n<p>It lived up to all expectations, with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/event\/dandenong-stingrays-vs-northern-knights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stingrays running away with it by 99 points<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The day became more about how many goals <strong>Tom De Koning<\/strong> could kick \u2013 he had six by half-time and nine by the final siren.<\/p>\n<p>It was a relatively tight first quarter with four goals to three in favour of the home side, but after that, it was 20 goals to four in a complete domination.<\/p>\n<p>In the second match of the round, <a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/event\/geelong-falcons-vs-western-jets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Geelong Falcons had a comfortable 40-point win over Western Jets to reaffirm their top four hopes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They led from start to finish and kicked six goals to zero in the second term to hold a 54-point half-time advantage.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets booted nine goals to six after half-time, but it was too little, too late, as <strong>Pat Dowling<\/strong> stood up for the Falcons with five goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>North Ballarat Rebels<\/strong> also secured a spot in the eight with some breathing space <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/event\/north-ballarat-rebels-vs-oakleigh-chargers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">after a 39-point win<\/a><\/strong> over <strong>Oakleigh Chargers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Rebels had to do it the hard way for the first three quarters, leading by 13 points at the final break, before kicking away with a five goals to one final term.<\/p>\n<p>AFL Academy players <strong>Hugh McCluggage<\/strong> and <strong>Jarrod Korewha<\/strong> were among the Rebels best.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bendigo Pioneers<\/strong> kept their season alive <a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/event\/bendigo-pioneers-vs-eastern-ranges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with a 21-point upset win<\/a> over <strong>Eastern Ranges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a surprise to most, the Pioneers booted nine goals to one in a stunning third quarter to open up a 39-point last break lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Ranges hit hard late, but they could not come away with the four points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joshua Begley<\/strong> and <strong>Jaidyn Stephenson<\/strong> stood up for the Ranges with nine goals between them, while <strong>Angus Schumacher<\/strong> was among the best for the Pioneers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calder Cannons<\/strong> proved too good for a weakened <strong>Murray Bushrangers<\/strong> outfit, <a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/event\/calder-cannons-vs-murray-bushrangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>defeating them by 54 points<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Karl Brown<\/strong> booted another bag of six, meaning he has slotted 15 in the past fortnight.<\/p>\n<p>Murray missed many of its players who were playing with <strong>NSW\/ACT Rams <\/strong>in the Under 18 Division Two Championships, and were not able to stay in the contest, which was blown apart in the third term when Calder kicked seven goals to two.<\/p>\n<p>In the final match of the round, <a href=\"https:\/\/afldraftcentral.com.au\/event\/gippsland-power-vs-sandringham-dragons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sandringham Dragons<\/strong> easily accounted for <strong>Gippsland Power<\/strong><\/a> to hold onto a top two spot.<\/p>\n<p>They led all day and never looked like losing, with <strong>Andrew McGrath<\/strong> picking up a lazy 44 disposals, six marks, one hit-out and 19 tackles in the best performance of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The result meant <strong>Gippsland Power<\/strong> is still the only TAC Cup side yet to have a win.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
