The hosts kicked five goals to one during the opening quarter of their Round 20 clash, and rallied again in term three to set up a comfortable victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dragons were restricted to just one goal in their time kicking away from the scoring end, but added some late respectability to the scoreboard after being 43 points in arrears at three-quarter time. Macumber worked hard to create overlap run and generate forward-half plays. He only just missed on a couple of scoring opportunities which would have made his day even more enjoyable. In the second half, he played more around the ball and was occasionally powerful around stoppages and decisive with ball in hand generally.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#20 Cooper Rand<br>Midfielder | 179cm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stats:<\/strong> 22 disposals, 4 tackles, 4 clearances, 1 goal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rand stood out as the only helmeted player but was also eye-catching for his zip around contests. At the coalface, he tackled ruthlessly and exhibited efficient ball-handling. In the third term, he pounced on a loose ball inside 50 and finished off with a tidy snap to extend Gippsland\u2019s lead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#27 <\/strong><a href=\"\/afl\/player\/charlie-fischer\/\" data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"194448\" class=\"_dc_spo\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Fischer<\/a><strong><br>Small Defender | 179cm | 07\/04\/2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stats:<\/strong> 16 disposals, 7 marks, 4 rebound 50s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fischer was key in blunting the Dragon\u2019s offence in the first half. He used his speed to close down leading opponents and spoiled plenty of marking opportunities. The bottom-ager was able to clear the ball from deep inside defensive 50 against larger opponents and showed impressive determination throughout the match.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#41 <\/strong><a href=\"\/afl\/player\/clancy-snell\/\" data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"184096\" class=\"_dc_spo\" target=\"_blank\">Clancy Snell<\/a><strong><br>Key Defender | 196cm | 21\/06\/2008<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stats:<\/strong> 11 disposals, 3 marks, 3 rebound 50s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highly-rated backman didn\u2019t have his usual impact aerially but was nonetheless solid.\u00a0Snell was the sturdiest key defender on the ground, never looking overwhelmed when under pressure and steady under high balls. The left-footer was useful when taking kick-outs, utilising his penetrating foot skills to find players up the field. Matthews advanced the ball more than any of his teammates and aided in generating scores.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#17 <\/strong><a href=\"\/afl\/player\/lochie-burrows\/\" data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"192369\" class=\"_dc_spo\" target=\"_blank\">Lochie Burrows<\/a><strong><br>Utility | 179cm | 18\/08\/2008<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stats: <\/strong>18 disposals, 6 marks, 9 tackles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rugged utility played across the three lines and attacked every contest with similar intensity.\u00a0As a defender, he wriggled out of tackles and held opponents accountable inside defensive 50. At the other end, he was reliably found at the top of the arc where he delivered to his deep forwards.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#64 <\/strong><a href=\"\/afl\/player\/eamonn-walker\/\" data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"184378\" class=\"_dc_spo\" target=\"_blank\">Eamonn Walker<\/a><strong><br>Midfielder | 178cm | 17\/08\/2009<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stats:<\/strong> 21 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walker was another of the Dragons\u2019 busiest players. He split his time between the midfield and defence, where he picked up plenty of loose ball across half-back. He looked to move the ball on whenever in possession and created speed on the ball when there wasn\u2019t previously.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#76 Archie Grikis<br>Tall Forward | 194cm <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stats:<\/strong> 11 disposals, 3 marks, 3 goals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It could have been an even more lopsided first half if Grikis didn\u2019t play. The tall forward kicked his side\u2019s first three goals and did his best work when the ball hit the ground by seizing on half-chances.
