She is highly competitive and will bring the defensive pressure, always looking to transition the ball from half-back down the ground and keep the ball moving. The bulk of her touches came under pressure and she predominantly looked to dish it off, while also getting her chance on-ball in the fourth term where she won six disposals and a couple of centre bounce clearances.

#4 Chloe Capeci
Utility | 167cm | 16/12/2008

Stats: 27 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal

Finishing with one of her most statistically superior performances, Capeci is familiar with the wing/half-back role, but also got her shot on the inside along with Calleia in the final term. Capeci had a huge nine disposals in the quarter, and brought her usual level of competitiveness and hard running to the fore. She even got forward to soccer home a goal in the goalsquare, and while her next attempt sprayed out on the full, worked hard until the final siren. A highly productive effort.

#9 Holly Clough
Key Forward | 184cm | 20/01/2009

Stats: 22 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 3 hitouts, 5 inside 50s

Finding more of the ball than usual, Clough had plenty of supply going forward, but also pushed up the ground to get more involved between the arcs too. She was quite often the play roaming around half-forward to deliver the ball inside 50, while also applying really good pressure for a player of her size. Had a few ‘almost’ chances at different points with some attempts going wide or just spilled marks, but as a whole she contributed well.

#22 Felicity Mahoney
Wing/Defender | 175cm | 30/07/2008

Stats: 22 disposals, 3 marks, 1 tackle, 2 clearances, 1 inside 50, 2 rebound 50s, 1 goal

The versatile daughter of former Magpies, Power and Bulldogs player Josh rolled between the wing and defence, where she understands the game well and is able to get involved. She kicked a nice goal midway through the third term pushing forward, and while she does operate as a handball-first player, she took a number of really reliable marks, then kicked downfield and followed up. Her work rate is a feature of her game.

#23 Jayda Scarafilo
Midfielder/Defender | 173cm | 09/06/2009

Stats: 23 disposals, 3 marks, 8 tackles, 6 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 2 behinds

Productive from the opening bounce, Scarafilo spent the bulk of her time on-ball and she was enormous defensively and at extracting the pill from the stoppages. Her craft around the coalface particularly stood out as she read the ruck taps effectively, got to the right spots and then broke away. Her polish and fundamentals – particularly under pressure – can still develop, but she’s a good size for a midfielder, and showed her ability to also drift back and assist in defence. Has traits to work with for next year.

#31 Marlo Atkins
Forward | 168cm | 19/09/2010

Stats: 14 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 2 inside 50s, 2 goals

The Under 16s talent really caught the eye in the win, particularly with her leading patterns and general forward craft. She competed in the air strongly for a player of her size, and Atkins not only kicked goals herself, but handed them off as well. Seemed to look dangerous each time she went near it, and her head was on a swivel. A name to remember over the coming years, particularly as that high half-forward who can also go deep and create a contest.

#37 Olivia Goldstein
Defender/Wing | 171cm | 18/11/2010

Stats: 19 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 1 clearance, 1 inside 50, 1 rebound 50

The eligible North Melbourne father-daughter continued her fine debut season with Calder playing between half-back and the wing. Possibly one of the most contrasting players to her dad, Goldstein’s run and carry and evasion ability makes her a name to track for Roos fans. She finds space well, has the natural footy smarts as you would expect, and takes the game on with some nice athletic traits. Still developing aspects of her game such as her control and composure, but she’s got enough to suggest the next two seasons will be exciting ones.

#40 Victoria Goudy
Utility | 173cm | 14/01/2010

Stats: 20 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 4 inside 50s, 1 behind

Goudy is yet another 2010-born prospect who is helping ensure Calder remain a dangerous proposition into the future. She’s a natural ball-winner around the contest, but in the game played across all three lines. It enabled some of the top-agers get to more time on-ball, while she flexed her adaptability and versatility by playing forward and then switching into defence. Can throw it onto the boot at times, but has a long kick, is clean and competitive.

GWV REBELS:

#6 Peggy Rock
Forward/Midfielder | 166cm | 20/07/2009

Stats: 16 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles, 1 clearance, 1 inside 50, 1 rebound 50, 1 behind

Looms as the top prospect for the club next season – and one of the better ones across the country – Rock brings infectious energy and aggression that reverberates around the ground. Her pressure, 100 per cent effort and ability to bring others into the game is really good, and the fact she can use both sides of her body is a massive tick as well. She’s still got areas to develop as she can tend to rush at times, but with any time or space, she can really open the game up and hit riskier passes for higher rewards.

#9 Lila Evans
Midfielder | 166cm | 30/08/2008

Stats: 18 disposals, 2 tackles, 8 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal

Cracked in and worked hard throughout the four quarters, Evans was the dominant clearance winner on the ground. The top-age Vic Country representative finished with eight stoppage wins which was double the next most on her side, and two more than anyone from Calder. An extract-at-all-costs midfielder, Evans’ bread and butter is at ground level where she scraps hard and is clean by hand, while also thumping it downfield to clear the immediate danger or congestion. Tough as nails.

#10 Sarah Burton
Midfielder/Forward | 11/02/2009

Stats: 13 disposals, 2 marks, 5 tackles, 3 clearances, 5 inside 50s, 1 goal

The bottom-ager was again among the better Rebels on both sides of the ball, laying five tackles and looking dangerous when able to get forward. She continued her midfield role and was able to work hard between the arcs throughout the match, starting on-ball then drifting back or pushing forward.
