TALENTED tall Greea McKeegan is unfazed about having to juggle multiple football commitments or even roles on the field, with the National Academy member believing the “pretty good system” that was put in place for her helped her seamlessly transition between the Geelong Falcons, Geelong Grammar School, Vic Country and the National Academy.

McKeegan said she was “really happy” with the way her year panned out, and spoke to Rookie Me Central at the National Draft Combine about how there were no issues jumping between sides, particularly the clashing Falcons and Grammar fixtures throughout 2026.

” We had a pretty good system, it was pretty easy to juggle both of them. Obviously coming in and out of the two different teams you have to juggle with different teammates and how each team plays, but I think it went pretty well.”

McKeegan and her partner in crime Ava Bilyk clearly took the Falcons to another level when both were in the Talent League team, helping guide Geelong to a finals place again, and very nearly toppling the undefeated – and eventual premiers – Dandenong Stingrays in the quarter finals. For the top-ager, she regarded her leadership as one of the key areas that had developed throughout 2026.

“I think improved aspects of my leadership and bits of my contested game that I’ve been working on throughout the year and continuing to work on as well,” McKeegan said.

Though naturally an outside running machine, McKeegan is still looking to develop that more inside work with her athleticism and footskills two of her biggest weapons alongside her aerial ability.

“I’d definitely say more of that contested side of my game (is a main improvement) and really working on being able to pick up the groundballs cleanly and then use my speed to drive out of the contest,” she said.

Setting a personal best in the 1.6km time-trial with a brilliant 5:33 seeing her finish second overall behind Sophia Green‘s 5:27, McKeegan said the whole Draft Combine had been “such a great experience”.

“It’s been lots of fun with all the girls and it’s been very fun to do all the different testing and to see where you’re at amongst the best talent in your group,” she said.

The Geelong Falcons and Vic Country representative said she liked playing both forward and wing, so “didn’t really have a preference” as either could showcase her “strengths and skills”. However should she land on an AFLW list as expected, McKeegan was keen to get stuck in no matter what task she was given.

“I’m hoping if I did get on an AFLW list I would hope to just be part of a team and get to know the different aspects of how the team does work and how they want to play and just really tipping into all the different resources they have and really utilising them,” she said.
