Small forward <strong>Dion Johnstone<\/strong> also booted five goals.<\/p>\n<p>For the Dragons, <strong>Andrew McGrath<\/strong> collected 27 disposals, finishing with a strong last quarter while <strong>Tim Taranto<\/strong> had 25 disposals and 10 tackles willing his side to turn around the dismal performance after quarter time.<\/p>\n<p>Hybrid defender <strong>Jack Scrimshaw<\/strong> found the ball 25 times, but had a handful of clangers by foot in what was a disappointing day for the Dragons.<\/p>\n<p>Up at Eureka Stadium, the <strong>North Ballarat Rebels<\/strong> recovered from a slow start to defeat the <strong>Northern Knights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Rebels led by four-points going into the final term, but kicked away with nine goals to two, running out\u00a0winners by 50-points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hugh McCluggage<\/strong> did his No.1 draft pick chances no harm, with 25 disposals and four goals. <strong>Cedric Cox<\/strong> spent more time through the midfield, resulting in his highest disposal number for the season with 24 disposals and six inside-50s.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Goal kicking mids don&#39;t grow on trees- Hugh McCluggage has kicked 21 goals in nine <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TACCup?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TACCup<\/a> games. McCluggage and Signorello the stars<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Peter Williams (@pawil5) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pawil5\/status\/764332420426444800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Out at Morwell, <strong>Ben Ainsworth<\/strong> nearly pulled <strong>Gippsland Power<\/strong> over the line against <strong>Eastern Ranges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Ranges took home the chocolates by 16-points, the Power came home with a bang outscoring the Ranges but it wasn&#8217;t enough.<\/p>\n<p>Ainsworth was best afield for Power, with 34 disposals and three goals in his best performances for the season.\u00a0Defender <strong>Sean Masterson<\/strong> put together one of his better games for the season, with 16 disposals and seven marks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collingwood<\/strong> Father\/Son hopeful<strong> Callum Brown<\/strong> had 32 disposals in the midfield for Eastern, with fellow <strong>Vic Metro<\/strong> teammates <strong>Dylan Clarke<\/strong> (30 disposals, eight marks and nine tackles) and <strong>Jordan Gallucci<\/strong> (21 disposals and seven tackles) also playing their part in the victory.<\/p>\n<p>At RAMS Arena, <strong>Geelong Falcons<\/strong> retained top spot with an easy 90-point victory against <strong>Calder Cannons<\/strong> in the <strong>TAC Cup Radio<\/strong> match of the week.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom-aged midfielders <strong>James Worpel<\/strong> (27 disposals and two goals) and <strong>Cassidy Parish<\/strong> (26 disposals and nine clearances) were the stars for the Falcons, while <strong>Jackson McLachlan<\/strong> booted four first half goals.<\/p>\n<p>Only <strong>Ben Ronke<\/strong> (22 disposals and three goals) could break the 20 disposal barrier for the Cannons in what was a disappointing day for them. <strong>Noah Balta<\/strong> continued his good form from the Vic Metro trial a week ago, with four goals from four kicks.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No wonder Ben Ronke is coming under the eye of recruiters. He&#39;s averaging 19.6 disposals, 3 marks &amp; 4.5 tackles a game with @CalderCannonsFC<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Tim Michell (@tim_michell) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tim_michell\/status\/765041843515953152?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 15, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The final match on Saturday saw a large contingent of recruiters flock to Shepley Oval to see a thriller, which saw <strong>Dandenong Stingrays<\/strong> defeat <strong>Murray Bushrangers<\/strong> by a solitary point.<\/p>\n<p>The scores seesawed all the way through the final term, but it was <strong>Hunter Clark<\/strong>&#8216;s goal that saw them take the lead with a minute remaining.<\/p>\n<p>Stingrays small <strong>Dan Allsop<\/strong> was lively around goal, booting two goals while fellow small <strong>Sam Fowler<\/strong> had 26 disposals in one of his better games of the season playing across half forward.<\/p>\n<p>Bushranger tall utility\u00a0<strong>Zach Sproule<\/strong> held <strong>Josh Battle<\/strong> to a single goal, but Battle appeared to be plagued from a calf injury which he sustained in the opening quarter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will Brodie<\/strong> was Murray&#8217;s best with 26 disposals and eight tackles, winning a multitude of clearances throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom-ager <strong>Charlie Spargo<\/strong> collected 20 disposals and kicked two goals in an impressive display for the GWS academy member. <strong>Todd Marshall<\/strong> also booted three goals, all of which came from under 20 metres out.<\/p>\n<p>The final match saw <strong>Western Jets<\/strong> lead from start to finish defeating <strong>Bendigo Pioneers<\/strong> by 32-points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaac Miller<\/strong> was the Pioneers best with 29 disposals, nine marks and six tackles while <strong>Kayle Kirby<\/strong> kicked four goals for the home side.<\/p>\n<p>Jets Bottom-ager <strong>Lachlan Fogarty<\/strong> collected 29 disposals, but it was <strong>Cameron Rayner<\/strong> who stole the show with a seven goal haul.<\/p>\n<p>Rayner dominated inside 50 and looked set to hit double figures with seven goals at three-quarter time, but he could only muster a solitary point in the final term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAILBITERS, fast starts\u00a0and big individual performances featured in round 16 of the TAC Cup.
