{"id":26743,"date":"2017-06-11T15:09:35","date_gmt":"2017-06-11T05:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.afldraftcentral.com.au\/?p=26743"},"modified":"2017-06-12T09:52:49","modified_gmt":"2017-06-11T23:52:49","slug":"davies-uniacke-dominates-in-vic-country-opening-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/central.rookieme.com\/afl\/2017\/06\/11\/davies-uniacke-dominates-in-vic-country-opening-win\/","title":{"rendered":"Davies-Uniacke dominates in Vic Country opening win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>POSSIBLE number one draft selection <strong>Luke Davies-Uniacke<\/strong>\u00a0stamped\u00a0his authority as one of the best players in the 2017 draft pool, starring in Vic Country&#8217;s 12-point win over the Allies at Blacktown on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In what was a high quality game and had a seesawing second half, 187cm and 85kg midfielder Davies-Uniacke used his strong frame in the contest to gather a game-high 34\u00a0disposals, 10 marks, five inside 50s and four clearances.<\/p>\n<p>The AFL Academy member was a standout in their loss to the Northern Blues back in April and has continue to show his ball winning abilities at school football level for Haileybury College.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow AFL Academy midfielders <strong>Paddy Dow<\/strong> (21 disposals, six clearances and one goal) and <strong>Hunter Clark<\/strong> (21 disposals)\u00a0were also among Country&#8217;s best players in the second game of the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Dow showed his burst from the stoppages, with his goal just before half time vital in giving Country the lead going into the main break. <strong>James Worpel<\/strong> had a game-high 11 tackles working hard on the inside.<\/p>\n<p>Bendigo Pioneer <strong>Kane Farrell<\/strong> returned to form with 21\u00a0disposals after a quiet few weeks at TAC Cup level, while Murray Bushranger <strong>Ben Paton<\/strong> rebounded the ball well out of defence finishing with 22 disposals.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Falcons bottom-agers\u00a0<strong>Ed McHenry<\/strong>\u00a0(23 disposals and eight tackles) and <strong>Sam Walsh<\/strong> (22 disposals) were impressive through the midfield and up forward.<\/p>\n<p>Tasmanian <strong>Hugh Dixon<\/strong>\u00a0booted three third-quarter goals to kick start\u00a0the Allies&#8217; third term, seeing them boot four goals to one, to take the lead at three quarter time.
