GEELONG FALCONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wild Card Round \u2013 Saturday, September 1, 11:30am<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MARS Stadium, Ballarat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Calder take on the Falcons in the first match-up of the round, with recent additions to the Geelong line-up meaning they pose a serious threat to both the Cannons, and all finals contenders \u2013 despite finishing the regular season in a disappointing tenth.<\/p>\n<p>Calder have bolstered a couple of areas with\u00a0<strong>Jesse Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jacob Martin<\/strong>\u00a0set to line up in the forward 50, while in-form versatile tall\u00a0<strong>Daniel Hanna<\/strong>\u00a0will slot straight back into the defensive six after outings with Essendon\u2019s VFL team.<\/p>\n<p>For Geelong, small bottom-age forward\u00a0<strong>Jay Dahlhaus<\/strong>\u00a0could be a handy inclusion, while\u00a0<strong>Finlay Parish\u00a0<\/strong>is back to provide some added depth to the midfield. GREATER WESTERN VICTORIA REBELS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wild Card Round \u2013 Saturday, September 1, 2:00pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MARS Stadium, Ballarat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Knights and Rebels were destined to face each other in this eighth vs ninth fixture no matter the results of Round 16. Northern are in good form having knocked off top-eight competition in the last two weeks, and will be looking to gain their third win over Greater Western Victoria (GWV) for the year.<\/p>\n<p>They have some serious bottom-age talent to sure up each line, with\u00a0<strong>Ryan Sturgess<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jackson Davies<\/strong>\u00a0slotting in at half-back,\u00a0<strong>Sam Philp<\/strong>\u00a0coming into the midfield and forward\u00a0<strong>James Lucente<\/strong>\u00a0named on an extended bench alongside\u00a0<strong>Charlie Simonsen<\/strong>. They lose the leadership of\u00a0<strong>Mitch Wild<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Harrison Grace<\/strong>\u00a0though, with last round\u2019s debutant\u00a0<strong>Jack House<\/strong>\u00a0also omitted.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Rebels have plenty of changes of their own, with the key one being\u00a0<strong>Scott Carlin<\/strong>\u00a0replacing\u00a0<strong>Josh Chatfield<\/strong>\u00a0in the midfield. Plenty of bottom-agers also make up their extended bench, while\u00a0<strong>Cooper Craig-Peters<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Riley Polkinghorne<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Izaac Grant<\/strong>\u00a0fill spots in the forward and back halves. Still, Western have stars on every line in their side and will be hard to beat.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets have brought over-ager\u00a0<strong>Jack Papachatzakis<\/strong>\u00a0into the starting line-up to replace\u00a0<strong>Jaden Rice\u00a0<\/strong>in defence, while bottom-ager\u00a0<strong>Cassius White<\/strong>\u00a0has been named as their 23rd\u00a0man. Star forward\u00a0<strong>Zane Barzen<\/strong>\u00a0also returns, and will look to continue his dangerous partnership with\u00a0<strong>Hudson Garoni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For Bendigo,\u00a0<strong>Connor O\u2019Shea<\/strong>\u00a0comes in on the wing, with the likes of bottom-ager\u00a0<strong>Logan Fitzgerald<\/strong>\u00a0making up an extended bench alongside\u00a0<strong>Alex Smith-Ralph<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Will Allen<\/strong>.
