{"id":41515,"date":"2018-10-26T10:53:25","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T00:53:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.afldraftcentral.com.au\/?p=41515"},"modified":"2020-04-23T06:48:21","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T20:48:21","slug":"prepare-to-get-gored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/central.rookieme.com\/afl\/2018\/10\/26\/prepare-to-get-gored\/","title":{"rendered":"Prepare to get Gore\u2019d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SHE\u2019S been a favourite from the south for a while now, but <\/span><b>Nikki Gore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is still excited after being taken with Adelaide\u2019s first pick in the 2018 AFLW draft. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt&#8217;s an awesome experience,\u201d she said. \u201cI can&#8217;t wait to get started for the Crows.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like most up and coming players, Gore played in the local boys competition, but a soon as an opportunity finally opened up for girls, she grabbed it. Last year, Gore entered the South Australian National Football League Women\u2019s (SANFLW) competition, playing for South Adelaide. This year, the Panthers won the premiership, but the midfielder\u2019s credentials don\u2019t stop there. Gore had the privilege of being a part of the very first NT Thunder women\u2019s team, made the AFL Women\u2019s Under 18 All-Australian squad for 2018, and was also selected in the SANFLW Team of the Year as ruck-rover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gore averaged 19.5 disposals in the SANFLW, which was the highest in the league. With the likes of <\/span><b>Angela Foley, Chelsea Randall<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Erin Phillips<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Adelaide Crows have bolstered their already impressive midfield to new heights. The only thing more impressive for Gore was when Randall called out her name, and handed Gore her jumper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGetting Chelsea Randall out there today to present me was incredible,\u201d she said. \u201cI can&#8217;t wait to get alongside them, and get to know some of the other girls, and work with some of the new draftees as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gore has been a passionate Crows supporter, but when asked if she had any intention of seeking opportunities interstate, she confirmed her passion was staying in her home state. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMy heart was stuck with South Australia,\u201d she said. \u201cI&#8217;d like to stay at home and all the girls have been really welcoming. It\u2019s going to be awesome to be playing in my home state, with all the family, and friends supporting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gore, as well as fellow draftee <\/span><b>Katelyn Rosenzweig<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, have an advantage that few other players have. The young Crows have trained alongside Adelaide premiership players in the South Australian academy as well as play with them during their time at NT Thunder. Gore is happy to carry that experience into the 2019 AFLW season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI&#8217;ve trained on with the Crows for a few years,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be pretty good to be a part of that team now, and be alongside some really great players, (I) can&#8217;t wait for the experience.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Crows are poised to mount a comeback to redeem themselves on their previous season, which was battered by injury.
