ALL eyes will be cast on new teams North Melbourne and Geelong in the first round of the AFLW season this weekend. The introduction of the expansion teams sparked plenty of player movement with Collingwood left without some of their stars, while many young guns are set to make their debut for their respective clubs.<\/p>\n
The Kangaroos have banded a star-studded team with the likes of Moana Hope<\/strong>, Emma Kearney<\/strong>, Kaitlyn Ashmore<\/strong>, Jess Duffin<\/strong>, Emma King<\/strong> and many more donning the blue and white stripes for the first time. Geelong are set to unveil former Greater Western Sydney goal-sneak Phoebe McWilliams<\/strong> but will be without star captain Melissa Hickey<\/strong>. Former Australian Diamonds goal keeper,\u00a0Sharni Layton,<\/strong>\u00a0will also be set to make her debut for the Pies since swapping codes.<\/p>\n While plenty of young guns have also been named in the teams with the likes of Maddy Prespakis,<\/strong>\u00a0Nina Morrison<\/strong>\u00a0and Emerson Woods<\/strong> set to take the field for the first time for their respective sides. Prespakis oozes talent and has excellent footy smarts making her a great asset for the navy blues who struggled last year. Carlton will also be boosted with the return of captain Brianna Davey<\/strong> who suffered an ACL injury last season. While Morrison will be a key cog in the midfield for the Cats who will be looking to make a name for themselves in their first season. Morrison is not the only player set to pull on the hoops for the first time with the likes of Denby Taylor<\/strong>, Sophie Van De Heuvel<\/strong> and Olivia Purcell<\/strong> joining her.
