THE penultimate round of South Australian National Football League (SANFL) action is upon us, with a couple intriguing matches coming given the way the respective ladders are currently set up. As we roll into Round 13, Draft Central<\/em>\u00a0continues its new weekly preview format, highlighting some of the best up-and-comers who will be out to impress with each passing game.<\/p>\n

West Adelaide draft hopeful Bailey Chamberlain\u00a0<\/strong>is in contention to make his SANFL League debut after being named on the extended bench for the Bloods’ Friday night encounter with Woodville-West Torrens. The Roxby Downs product has produced a highly consistent and productive season, rising up from the under-18s and performing well in the reserves over the past few rounds. Unfortunately, exciting tall Riley Thilthorpe\u00a0<\/strong>will miss another match with a groin injury.<\/p>\n

The top-of-the-table Eagles could call upon physical midfielder\u00a0Ben Jungfer,\u00a0<\/strong>who has impressed whilst\u00a0spending the year at reserves level.\u00a0Skilful utility Caleb\u00a0<\/strong>Poulter\u00a0<\/strong>has once again been named in the reserves to face a Bloods side which features strong marking defender Jye Sinderberry.\u00a0<\/strong>Power father-son prospect\u00a0Taj\u00a0Schofield\u00a0<\/strong>and tough onballer Harrison Dawkins\u00a0<\/strong>have also been elevated to the Eagles seconds.<\/p>\n

In the under-18s, talented bottom-ager\u00a0Cade Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>has been named in the centre for the Bloods, with\u00a0Luke Young\u00a0<\/strong>named at centre half forward and Edward Van den berg\u00a0<\/strong>in the back pocket.\u00a0Talls\u00a0Henry Smith\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Zac Phillips\u00a0<\/strong>will once again be looking to control the airways for the Eagles, with consistent midfielders Max Lister\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Jase Burgoyne <\/strong>lurking at ground level.<\/p>\n

Adelaide Next Generation Academy prospect James Borlase\u00a0<\/strong>will return to the\u00a0Double Blues league side after he missed their round 12 clash due to school football commitments with Prince Alfred College. Named on the extended bench, he will provide a key position option down back against a talented North Adelaide forward line. Tom Emmett\u00a0<\/strong>will run out with Sturt’s reserves at Peter Motley Oval and midfield trio Will Spain<\/strong>,\u00a0Tom\u00a0Powell\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Mani Liddy\u00a0<\/strong>will front up again for the clubs under-18s at Prospect Oval.<\/p>\n

North Adelaide have added 19-year-old Karl Finlay\u00a0<\/strong>to the selected squad\u00a0after he spent a week with the reserves. The Roosters under-18s appear to be peaking at the right time of the season, but will face a Sturt side which has been the competition’s pace-setter all season. Forwards\u00a0Leo Coates\u00a0<\/strong>and Zyton\u00a0Santillo\u00a0<\/strong>have provided excellent service in attack and 16-year-old ruckman Isaac Keeler <\/strong>has provided good service to midfielders\u00a0Matthew\u00a0<\/strong>Borg<\/b>,\u00a0James Willis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Kyle Brazell.\u00a0<\/strong>The Roosters have been well led by Adelaide Academy trio\u00a0Lam Simon, Blayne O’Loughlin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Tariek Newchurch\u00a0<\/strong>and boast a formidable line-up.<\/p>\n

South Adelaide young gun\u00a0Jason Horne<\/strong>\u00a0and Victorian import Daly Andrews\u00a0<\/strong>have been named on the extended bench for the Panthers home clash against the Redlegs. Mature-aged key defender\u00a0Tom Highmore\u00a0<\/strong>will play a key role down back in the seniors, while fellow draft hopefuls\u00a0Zac Dumesny\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Phoenix<\/strong>\u00a0Spicer<\/strong> line-up in the reserves.<\/p>\n

South Adelaide’s under-18s have named a strong side for their important meeting with Norwood.\u00a0Brayden Cook\u00a0<\/strong>has been named on the wing, with\u00a0Max Clifton\u00a0<\/strong>set to lead the onball rotation. Nick\u00a0Kraemer\u00a0<\/strong>will start at centre half forward, flanked by Liam Hamilton\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Liam Nye.<\/strong>\u00a0Strong-bodied defender Harry\u00a0Spacie <\/strong>and midfielders Jayden\u00a0Magor\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Matthew Roberts <\/strong>will also return to bolster the under-18s.<\/p>\n

Midfielder Jack Saunders\u00a0<\/strong>is a chance to make his league debut with Norwood after performing well at reserves level. If he survives the final cut, he will join fellow junior\u00a0Daniel Fairbrother\u00a0<\/strong>in the side. Both have worked their way up the ranks off the back of consistent performances throughout 2020.<\/p>\n

The Redlegs under-18s, like their southern opponents, have named a strong lineup for the Saturday morning clash. The skilful Michael Cavallaro\u00a0<\/strong>will form a damaging onball rotation with bottom-aged star Cooper Murley\u00a0<\/strong>and ball magnet Henry Nelligan.\u00a0<\/strong>Tall utility\u00a0Ned Cary\u00a0<\/strong>could provide a focal point in attack, in tandem with leading target\u00a0Finn Heard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Edwards<\/strong> brothers, Luke<\/strong> and Jackson<\/strong>, will front up for the Tigers reserves when they face Lachlan Grubb<\/strong>\u00a0and the Bulldogs reserves.\u00a0Glenelg’s under-18s have been bolstered by the return of several college footballers. Talented trio\u00a0Xavier Robbins,<\/strong>\u00a0Henry McAuliffe\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Cooper Beecken\u00a0<\/strong>will be looking to help Glenelg record their sixth victory of the season, after leading Sacred Heart to victory over arch-rivals Rostrevor last weekend.<\/p>\n

Midfielder\u00a0Austin McDonald\u00a0<\/strong>and Northern Territory import\u00a0Brodie Lake\u00a0<\/strong>will be looking to help Central Districts to another victory in what has been a challenging season.<\/p>\n
