AFTER an early scare, Melbourne<\/a> showed its class and went on to defeat Richmond<\/a> at the Swinburne Centre. The Tigers burst out of the blocks and got the early jump on the Dees, but a five goals to none second term really turned things in Melbourne\u2019s favour. The Demons survived a late Richmond fightback to take the win, 8.6 (54) to Richmond 6.2 (32).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tessa Lavey is going to have a break out season<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After a great game last week, Tessa Lavey<\/a> backed it up again this week with 12 disposals and two goals. Although she may have an interrupted season because of WNBL commitments, she has already shown vast improvement from her debut season. She may be on the verge of an absolutely stellar breakout season, so stay tuned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monique Conti continues to be a dangerous proposition for any side<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After staring in round one, Monique Conti<\/a> was absolutely superb again last night. She had 25 disposals, six tackles and a goal last night. She is continuing to prove how much that full preseason behind her has been a benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underestimate Richmond at your own peril<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Richmond had a great first up win in round 1, but last night\u2019s match was against a much tougher opponent. That certainly did not overawe the Tigers, who held their own for much of the game and took it up to the Dees, particularly in the opening term. Richmond may surprise a few people this season and may do better then many expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melbourne is riding the Covid chaos well<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Last week Melbourne had four of their best 21 out last week because of Covid protocols, and this week the Dees had five. Now that much chopping and changing can be detrimental to a side, but the Dees proved once again last night that they can still go out and get the job done no matter what. With a chaotic season ahead because of Covid, this ability is going to be so valuable moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melbourne is proving they can still win no matter what is thrown at them during a game<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Not only are they riding the Covid chaos well, the Dees are also proving that they can still win no matter what is thrown at them during a game. They were able to withstand the Bulldogs\u2019 surge last week in the third term, and this week they gave up an opening term lead to the Tigers but still won.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week sees Melbourne finally back at home at Casey, hosting the Saints, while Richmond are once again at home, this time hosting Fremantle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
