THE VFLW returned on the weekend, with a number of AFLW players playing across the league, hoping to make it back into their respective AFLW sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were a number of Dees AFLW listed players that played in Casey\u2019s win over Darebin. Coming back for her first VFLW game for a while, Maggie Caris<\/a> had a quiet game, with only the four touches, but did lay four tackles and register 8 hitouts and a clearance. Someone who had a much less quiet game this week though was Brenna Tarrant<\/a>. She finished with 20 disposals, and registered two marks, two tackles and two clearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Georgia Campbell<\/a> and Maeve Chaplin<\/a> also both got plenty of the ball, and finished on 18 touches apiece. Campbell also registered two marks, two tackles, 11 hit outs, a clearance and got on the scoreboard with a goal, while Chaplin picked up two marks, two tackles and two clearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although there were no AFLW Saints lining up for the Southern Saints on Saturday, there was certainly plenty of AFLW Blues lining up for the VFLW Blues. Two AFLW Blues led the goal kicking tally for the VFLW side on the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Charlotte Hammans<\/a> kicked two goals one, but also had ten touches, a mark and a whopping eight tackles. Poppy Schaap<\/a> also kicked two goals, and had 12 touches, five tackles and a clearance. Lauren Brazzale<\/a> had 12 touches, two marks and a clearance, while Annie Lee<\/a> had 14 touches, three marks and four tackles. Charlotte Wilson<\/a> had 12 touches, five marks, three hit outs and a tackle, while Brooke Walker<\/a> had 13 touches, three marks and five tackles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A couple of Blues who had quieter games were Imogen Milford<\/a> and Brooke Vernon<\/a>. Milford had only the nine touches, tour tackles, three hit outs and a mark, while Vernon had only the eight touches and two tackles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There were a couple of AFLW-listed Bulldogs that lined up in their side\u2019s loss to Williamstown. Amanda Ling<\/a> had eight touches, five tackles and a mark and a clearance, while Annabel Strahan<\/a> had the nine touches, two marks, three tackles and a clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There were plenty of AFLW-listed Cats on hand on Saturday afternoon as they beat the Hawks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Laura Gardiner<\/a> put herself right in contention for an AFLW recall, finishing with 27 touches, three marks, five clearances and six tackles. Claudia Gunjaca<\/a> had the 11 touches, four marks, five tackles, three hitouts and a clearance, while Carly Remmos<\/a> had 10 touches and a mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Danielle Higgins<\/a> had only the eight touches and two marks, but she did kick a goal. Someone else who kicked a goal on the weekend was Madisen Maguire<\/a>, who also had 14 touches, four clearances and six tackles. Georgia Clarke<\/a> also kicked one goal one to go with her 10 touches, three marks, and six tackles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although there were no AFLW Roos in their match against Collingwood, there were a few AFLW stars in their opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The most well known of these was Sabrina Frederick<\/a>, who kicked four goals to go with her 19 touches, three marks, two tackles, two hitouts and two clearances. Imogen Barnett<\/a> had a much quieter game though, with only the two touches, two marks and a tackle. Imogen Purcell<\/a> had 10 touches, a mark and six tackles, while Abbi Moloney<\/a> had 12 touches, six marks, three tackles and two clearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, there were a few Tigers on hand to help the Borough in their loss to Essendon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sophie Molan<\/a> was one of the Borough\u2019s best. She had 17 touches, three marks, four tackles and four clearances. Sarah Dargan<\/a> was one of only two goal kickers in the loss, and also notched up 12 disposals, two tackles and three clearances.
