2021/22 WNBL Round 3 Team of the Week

AFTER another round of exciting WNBL action, there were plenty of star performances across all teams and all the games. Let us take a look at who the star players were that made this week’s Team of the Week.

Point Guard – Lindsay Allen (Melbourne Boomers)           

Lindsay Allen was on fire in front of the ring in her side’s win over the reigning champions. Against the Flyers, she shot 22 points, had four assists and a rebound.

Shooting Guard – Tiffany Mitchell (Melbourne Boomers)

Mitchell had two excellent games last weekend. In her side’s win over Bendigo, she shot 25 points and registered two assists and three rebounds. In her side’s second match against the Flyers, she shot 14 points, had four assists and two rebounds.

Centre – Abby Bishop (Southside Flyers)

Bishop continued her great early season form last weekend against Melbourne Boomers. In her side’s loss, she recorded 17 points, two assists and five rebounds.

Power Forward – Ezi Magbegor (Melbourne Boomers)

Player of the Week Magbegor had a brilliant weekend in Melbourne’s double header round. In her Player of the Week performance against Bendigo, she shot 21 points, had nine assists and had a whopping 16 rebounds.   In Melbourne’s second game of the weekend, against the Flyers, she shot 13 points and had two assists and six rebounds.

Small Forward – Anneli Maley (Bendigo)

Maley makes her third consecutive Team of the Week, and had a great game against Melbourne. In her side’s loss, she shot nine points and had an assist, but also had a whopping 11 rebounds.

Bench

The backup centre this week is once again Zitina Aokuso. In Townsville’s win against Sydney Uni, she scored 10 points and recorded 5 rebounds in only 17 minutes of game play.

The backup power forward this week is Boomer Cayla George. In her side’s win over the Flyers, she scored 25 points and recorded three assists, but also recorded a whopping 12 rebounds.

The two backup guards this week are Rebecca Cole and Jade Melbourne. In Southside’s loss to the Boomers, Cole was active, shooting 20 points and recording three assists and five rebounds. Up against Adelaide, Capital Melbourne shot 18 points and had three rebounds.

Finally, this week’s backup small forward is Bendigo’s Mary Goulding. In her side’s loss to Melbourne, she shot nine points and had six rebounds, all within 16 minutes of game time.
