2024/25 WNBL fixture drops ahead of October start

WITH the 2024/25 season approaching at a rapid pace, the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) fixture has dropped for the months ahead, with plenty of exciting matchups on the cards.

After a thrilling finish to last season, the WNBL is set to return on October 30th for another blockbuster period of action. The 2024/25 season will run until March, with the regular season set to wrap mid-February, before the postseason takes place from there.

The season kicks off with the competition’s newest team Geelong United making their WNBL debut with a clash against the Townsville Fire at home in an exciting new chapter for the league. That match will also see the debut of Jacy Sheldon, who was the fourth overall pick in the WNBA draft and should be one of the stars of the competition.

Also in Round 1 is a Grand Final rematch between the Southside Flyers and the Perth Lynx and if it is as entertaining as the deciding series last season, it should be a must-see encounter with both sides expected to be around the mark once again.

Christy Collier-Hill, head of the WNBL, said the league was thrilled to finally release the fixture after extensive planning.

“In unveiling the fixture today, we are excited for the fans to see what the 45th season has to offer, the incredible matchups, the rivalries, the world class players, this season will be special” Collier-Hill said.

“To have Olympians from the Opals and Gangurrus as well as WNBA stars playing, continues to position the WNBL as one of the best leagues in the world.

“Last season was one of the most thrilling in recent memory and with what has transpired over the off-season and the talent this league has I cannot wait for what this season holds.”
