2025 NBA Draft Team Preview – Golden State Warriors

IT WILL be a quiet draft night for the Golden State Warriors, who recently traded away a large portion of their draft capital to acquire veteran stars in a bid to contend in the next couple of seasons.
In order to acquire Jimmy Butler in a blockbuster trade, the Warriors traded away their first round selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, with that pick eventually sitting at 20, but in the hands of the Miami Heat instead.
The Warriors are undoubtedly looking to win a championship in the next two years, with their stars in Stephen Curry, Butler and Draymond Green all in the twilight of their respective careers, so it makes sense to get rid of some of their draft picks in the present to go all out in search of a championship.
However, the Warriors have found key pieces in their championship teams late in the draft, and will need to do so again, armed with just one second round selection.

The Warriors will make just the one selection at the 2025 NBA Draft, seeing themselves in the championship window and trading away a top 20 selection for six-time All-Star Butler, although the team fell in the second round to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
It was a disappointing end to their season, and now, the Warriors will look to the draft to acquire a young piece on a low contract, which is a huge positive given some of paydays coming up for the team’s big guns.
A key area of their game that could do with some improvement is shot creation without Curry, who has been forced to do a lot of the heavy lifting on the offensive end for the past five years. If Golden State can get an offensive weapon off the bench, it will make them a much more dangerous team.
If he is still on the board, Kam Jones would be an excellent option and a steal in the 40s. Although older than his peers at 23 years of age, his ability to find the bottom of the net will be a huge weapon for the Warriors. Although his shooting can be inconsistent, Jones would slot into the Warriors’ rotation nicely and if he can improve his jumpshot, he could develop into a key piece in the coming years.
Another option for the Warriors could be to upgrade their frontcourt, with the undersized Green forced to play the center for much of the season. With backup big man Kevon Looney also in the final years of his career, getting a young big man now could be the move.
Aussie Alex Condon may have been a strong option here, but he has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and will be returning to the Florida Gators in a bid to try and win a second consecutive National Championship.
If he is still available, Hansen Yang could be a viable option for the Warriors if they want to find a young piece for their frontcourt. Playing in China, Yang averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds and has shown plenty of upside. Although he is still a raw prospect, the big man has plenty of potential and plays a lot like a former Warrior in Andrew Bogut.
