2025 NBA Draft Team Wrap – Brooklyn Nets

THE BROOKLYN Nets were one of the more intriguing teams in terms of their choices at the 2025 NBA Draft, leaning heavily towards backcourt acquisitions and adding a few guards to their roster for the future.

The Nets had a whopping five first round picks heading into the 2025 intake, and were looming as one of the key teams in the draft. There was also plenty of speculation that Brooklyn would package together some of these selections and move up the order into the top five.

However, the Nets kept all of their picks and added five pieces that should all come in handy for the future, and after the trade they made today, seem to fit in the team structure.

Drafted Players

Egor Demin (pick eight), Nolan Traore (pick 19), Drake Powell (pick 22), Ben Saraf (pick 26), Danny Wolf (pick 27)

The Nets kicked off their evening by drafting Demin with the eighth overall selection, in a move that was unexpected by many and made the point guard one of the biggest bolters in the draft. Although his shooting does need some work if he is to cement himself as a starter, Demin is one of the smartest point guards in the draft class, showing immense basketball IQ and proving creative with ball in hand, and at six-foot-eight, has plenty of positional size, so there is a lot of potential there.

Eyebrows started to raise when the Nets used their next selection to draft another overseas point guard in Nolan Traore at pick 19. It was back to back selections in the same position for the Nets, who admittedly did need to fill that void, especially after they lost D’Angelo Russell to free agency earlier today. Now it seems it will be a battle for the starting point guard spot between Demin and Traore in the coming years.

The Nets then looked to add to their wing stocks with their next selection, adding Powell with the 22nd overall pick. Powell is a strong addition to the team thanks to his defensive prowess, able to switch well and lock down the opposition’s best players on the perimeter. Although his offensive game needs tidying, there is the potential for him to become a dangerous 3-and-D player in the future.

Surprisingly, Brooklyn added a third international point guard late in the first round when they added Saraf to their roster, seeing the Nets have a surplus of players in that position. Saraf will take longer to develop however, and the fact that they have two players ahead of him will allow him to hone his craft over the next couple of years, but it remains seen how all three will fit.

The Nets then capped off the draft with arguably their best pick of the night, adding big man Wolf with their fifth and final selection for 2025. The center stands an impressive seven feet tall, but has the skills of a guard with his excellent ball handling and impressive shooting. He could be the starting center of the future for the Nets, and fits into the modern game perfectly with his dynamic skillset that could make him one of the more unique big men in the competition.
