2025 NBA Draft Team Wrap – Milwaukee Bucks

IN AN eventful off-season for the Milwaukee Bucks, they managed to find an exciting young piece with their sole selection at the 2025 NBA Draft last month, adding more youthful talent to a changing roster.

After falling short in the playoffs, the Bucks decided to switch things up in the off-season, waiving star point guard Damian Lillard as he spends most of the upcoming season recovering from an ACL injury, while also signing big man Myles Turner in free agency, who is fresh off an exciting Finals run with the Indiana Pacers.

Despite having a small hand at the 2025 NBA Draft, the Bucks managed to get a player that many see as a ‘steal’, and could have found a massive amount of value late in the second round of proceedings.

Drafted Players

Bogoljub Markovic (pick 47)

Despite losing a star player in Lillard, the Bucks still have plenty of talent on their roster moving forward, and upgraded at the center position by replacing Brook Lopez with Turner, so with their selection, the team looked to add another forward.

Enter, Markovic, a six-foot-11 forward out of Serbia, who was considered to be in first round contention by many and could be one of the steals of the draft for the Bucks if he develops and learns from franchise player Giannis Antetokounmpo in the first years of his career.

Despite being a tall player for his position, it is his jumpshot that stands out the most, offering a strong mechanic and impressive efficiency having shot 41 per cent from behind the arc in his most recent campaign.

He is also reliable from the free throw line, which is an impressive feat being this early in his career, while he adds value with his excellent post scoring and impressive playmaking, which allows him to be a connective passer in the frontcourt.

He could do with adding some size in the early stages of his NBA career, while his defensive impact will also need some improvement, but Antetokounmpo is a perfect example of being able to develop these as a raw prospect, having done so himself just over a decade ago.

Markovic may be stashed overseas in the early parts of his career in order to fast track his development, which is something the Bucks can afford to do given they have a surplus of frontcourt players as it stands. However, he may prove a valuable weapon in the coming years, and if he can increase his strength and production on the defensive end, he may be one of the best value picks of the 2025 draft class.
