2025 NBA Draft Team Wrap – Orlando Magic

IT WAS a pair of excellent additions for the Orlando Magic at the 2025 NBA Draft in Chicago next week, adding two really strong prospects and ensuring the future is still immensely bright for the team moving forward.

The Magic have built their star duo of the future in Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, and have made the postseason for the past two seasons, indicating there is a lot to look forward to in Orlando, and although the Magic could be still a couple of years away from truly making a deep run, the direction is certainly positive.

Now, the Magic have added two strong draft prospects following the 2025 intake, and are getting closer to truly building their first championship team.

Orlando Magic

Drafted Players

Jase Richardson (pick 25), Noah Penda (pick 32)

The Magic already have a lot of exciting young talent on their roster, and in a deep draft class, were able to add two key pieces to the list within the span of seven selections, both of whom were considered first round talents.

The Magic opened their account by selecting Richardson, who is the son of former high-flyer Josh, and will be a welcome addition to the team’s backcourt, and following the addition of Desmond Bane, will be given plenty of time to develop.

Although he does not possess his father’s ridiculous dunking ability, Richardson’s one-wood is his excellent midrange shooting, showing an excellent mechanic when putting up shots and can take over a match from this range.

He is also creative in pick and roll situations, which will open up scoring opportunities for his teammates, so there is certainly a spot for him among his star teammates, even in the short term while the rest of his game develops.

With their second selection, the Magic picked up Penda, who was touted by many to be picked up in the first round, but fell to pick 32. It was quite a steal for Orlando, and the forward will likely be the glue piece the team needs for the future.

Penda has one of the most adaptable games of anyone in the draft class, slotting into any lineup seamlessly with his well-rounded skillset, making him an ideal addition to a Magic team that already has a big three.

Although his shooting does need some work if he is to become a more well-rounded offensive threat, Penda still brings solid passing, a high motor and solid defensive impact to the table, and should have no trouble adapting to any lineup he is placed in for Orlando.

The Magic already had a strong core coming into the draft, and added a pair of seriously exciting talents to their roster, both of whom will be able to slot in off the bench in the short term and have starter potential for the future.
