2025 NBA Draft Team Wrap – San Antonio Spurs

THE SAN Antonio Spurs left the 2025 NBA Draft with a pair of exciting youngsters, adding to one of the most promising rosters in the competition when they made two first round picks after already loading up with young talent in the past.
Already boasting a future superstar in Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs headed into the 2025 intake in Chicago last month with the second overall selection and yet another first rounder, making a strong draft hand and making San Antonio one of the most ominous teams in the NBA in the coming years.
Having added their point guard of the future and an athletic forward, the Spurs will be one of the teams to beat in the next 5-10 years, and have made some impressive selections over the past three years at the draft.

Two selections inside the lottery saw the Spurs take one of the strongest hands into the 2025 NBA Draft, and they seem to have nailed it by taking an immense talent in the top two and then following it up with an excellent defensive prospect with their second pick.
The Spurs surprised no one when they took Harper with the second overall selection, adding the second-best player in the draft class and setting up their backcourt for the future with a prospect who had been identified as elite early in his career.
Harper is incredibly impressive with his at-rim finishing, being seemingly unfazed by defenders and getting to the cup easily by splitting pick and rolls or bursting past the opposition to finish with his left hand.
He is also very composed with ball in hand, and has excellent upside as a playmaker, which will be made easier by the pairing of Wembanyama in the frontcourt. The duo will undoubtedly work in tandem in the coming years and give opposition teams nightmares for years to come.
Positionally, it is an interesting addition for the Spurs, given the team already has plenty of talent in the backcourt. Veteran Chris Paul is unlikely to return, but San Antonio already has All-Star De’Aaron Fox and reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle occupying the guard spot, but the team has been adamant in being able to make the trio work.
With their second and final pick of the draft, the Spurs added Bryant to close out the lottery, adding to their frontcourt with an exciting prospect. With the ability to impact on both sides of the ball, he should pair nicely next to Wembanyama in the future.

Bryant is one of the best defenders in the draft, showing excellent versatility on that side of the ball and he and his French frontcourt teammate should be the most restrictive duo in the NBA in the future. He also has impressive inside scoring and can nail a catch-and-shoot shot as well, so he is a strong selection.
The Spurs continued the building of their incredibly strong roster for the future, adding two players who undoubtedly be a key part of their core for the future. If Harper can slot in next to the established guards and Bryant can unlock more of his scoring potential, the Spurs will be back to being in championship contention in no time at all.
