TUESDAY night in the National Basketball League (NBL) Blitz saw the Perth Wildcats produce a powerful win over the Adelaide 36ers at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Perth looks in ripping form coming into the season, and emphasised that by completely towering over the 36ers, cruising home to a whopping 32-point win.

Both teams came into the game for their second outing of the Blitz Tournament, with the Wildcats entering the contest fresh off a win over the Cairns Taipans, while the 36ers were eager to recover from their loss to the New Zealand Breakers.

The Wildcats started the game like a house on fire, going on an 8-0 run to kick off proceedings and take an early lead. After struggling from the field as a team, Adelaide finally got on the board through Isaac Humphries, who continued his strong preseason form, but it was not sustained as the 36ers suddenly trailed by 12.

Unfortunately for Adelaide, it only got worse from there, going through another scoring drought with the scoreline remarkably standing at 23-2 at one stage. At the first change, Perth held a 26-point lead on the scoreboard, with the game essentially done by this point. Star recruit Keanu Pinder poured in 11 points in the first 10 minutes to announce his arrival on the Wildcats.

The 36ers managed to stop the bleeding a bit as the game went on, but could not make any ground and the result was essentially sealed after just one period of play. The second term was a particular highlight for Adelaide, outscoring the opposition by two, but the Wildcats were simply too strong in the second half and cruised home to a 112-80 triumph.

There were plenty of bright spots from the Wildcats, who produced a magnificent team performance. Development player Michael Harris top-scored with 18 points, while Pinder was a standout. The star big man produced 17 points in the end, his best showing for Perth, showing how well he will fit on the team. It was a truly balanced showing from the team out west, who took control of the match early and never looked back. Humphries looked strong again for Adelaide with 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks, while Jamaal Franklin was solid offensively.

In the other match of the day, the Tasmania JackJumpers continued their promising start to the preseason with a win over the Breakers, again keeping their name in contention.
